Sasaki Triumphant In 20th Anniversary Match
Daisuke Sasaki and IWGP Jr. Heavyweight champion El Desperado were successful in their first-ever match as tag partners in the main event. They downed the pairing of Shuji Ishikawa and Antonio Honda, two men who have played major roles in Sasaki’s career.
This was Sasaki’s return to the ring after dislocating his shoulder during his tag title match at Wrestle Peter Pan last August 30th. After the match, he said in jest that Desperado carried him the entire match and sent a message to Masa Takanashi, telling him to do his best to live.
Takanashi, who is also one of Sasaki’s former tag partners and stablemates, injured his neck during the main event of Judgment, fighting for the KO-D Openweight title against his current tag partner, Chris Brookes, last March. Sasaki would pay homage to him during the match by attempting one of his signature moves, the Takatonic.

Kasai Crushes Defiant Okatani
In another first-time ever occasion, Japanese deathmatch icon Jun Kasai got the win over Damnation T.A.’s Hideki Okatani in a hardcore match. This was their first singles match, which did not disappoint.
Kasai had to consecutively hit his younger opponent with big moves in the end to claim a definitive victory. He would try to shake hands after winning, but Okatani remained defiant and slapped it away, then flipped the bird at his face.
While Okatani absorbed a crushing loss, it feels like this wouldn’t be the last time they get to stand across the ring from one another.
