Oba Femi vs Ricky Saints for the NXT Championship at No Mercy graphic

NXT Championship Loss for Oba Femi Spells Good Business for WWE

Oba Femi lost his NXT Championship to Ricky Saints at NXT No Mercy 2025. “The Revolution” got “The Ruler” under control, but this may be a great decision for the company and its fans. In this article, we will explore the reasons behind this change and how everyone can benefit from it.

Oba Femi’s Loss Could Mean New Beginnings

Oba Femi has been with WWE since 2022. Over the past three years, the Nigerian wrestler held the NXT North American Championship for 273 days in 2024 and was the NXT Champion for 263 days in 2025. He had a strong showing on the third brand, but this loss at No Mercy 2025 could lead to new and exciting opportunities for him.
Oba doesn’t need anyone to speak for him, and his in-ring prowess is second to none. He could switch brands and appear on SmackDown, where Cody Rhodes could use a fresh opponent to help him shine.
The Ruler could arrive on SmackDown and claim to be the new Head of the Table. This could ignite a storyline with The Original Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, which would be a delight for fans. Alternatively, Oba could show up on Raw and make Paul Heyman an offer he cannot refuse. This could lead to the two conspiring against Seth Rollins.
Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed wouldn’t mind a powerful leader or teammate. They could work with Femi to take out Rollins, creating a new dynamic. It’s also possible that Oba could stay on NXT, allowing Ricky Saints to take the spotlight he deserves. This would shift focus away from the repetitive Oba vs. Trick Williams storyline.

WWE Could Use Oba Femi on TNA Wrestling Shows

Oba Femi needs no introduction. He is well-known to TNA Wrestling enthusiasts, and WWE could have him appear on Thursday nights. This move would help draw more attention to the TNA brand and business. Trick Williams and Oba Femi have a long history. With Femi no longer holding the NXT Championship, he could set his sights on the TNA Champion and his title, making him a valuable asset for both companies.

TNA performers would relish the chance to outshine Oba, giving them an opportunity to compete against a 310-pound giant. This would elevate TNA Impact’s appeal, with wrestlers like Moose, Mike Santana, and even Joe Hendry (if his name is mentioned) serving as formidable opponents. Oba knows how to shine against his rivals, and this would be the perfect opportunity for him to transition from Tuesday nights to Thursdays.

WWE Needed to Give Oba Femi Some Time Off

Oba Femi has been a workhorse for WWE since becoming champion. He was ready for any challenge and made every moment look spectacular. The Nigerian deserves some time off, and it’s possible that WWE decided to take him off television temporarily to allow him to recharge. Oba has a commanding presence and needs no build-up upon his return.
He can walk in, enter a storyline, and shine. The company recognizes his star power and will likely use it when the time is right. Femi may take this opportunity to invest in his personal life and return rejuvenated to reclaim his role as The Ruler.
