WWE SummerSlam could see two major championship changes off the back of Seth Rollins’ injury. Seth Rollins’ SummerSlam plans are derailed and this could open up the summer showcase for some titles changes.
Rollins’ injury at Saturday Night’s Main Event took him out of the WWE Raw gauntlet match to find Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship challenger. This meant CM Punk could enter the match without his number one foe working to cost him a win.

CM Punk Set To Win World Heavyweight Championship
Rollins stopped Punk winning the WWE Championship at Night of Champions, and vowed his top goal was to keep gold off the waist of Punk. With Rollins out of the way, Punk won the gauntlet match and will compete at WWE SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Championship.
With Rollins not around, Punk has a fair shot at World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and at being on the positive side of a WWE SummerSlam title change.
If Punk does win, it will be as a clear result of Rollins’ injury. It would also set up potentially the most dramatic cash-in of a Money in the Bank briefcase if Rollins returned to take the title from Punk before the June deadline.
Roman Reigns’ return to feud with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed could also play into Punk’s hands. It keeps Reigns away from the World Heavyweight Championship picture. If Rollins had been involved in a championship match or cash-in at WWE SummerSlam, it would have drawn Reigns out to prevent him from winning. This chaos could have helped Gunther retain his title.
It is another reason why Gunther vs. CM Punk could be void of outside interference, which should benefit Punk.
Could Rollins’ Injury Impact Becky Lynch?
Becky Lynch returned to WWE the night after Rollins aligned with Paul Heyman to help secure his vision for the future of WWE.
On the WWE Raw after WrestleMania, Rollins bolstered his army with Bron Breakker. Lynch also turned heel with a vicious attack on Lyra Valkyria after they lost the Women’s Tag Team Championship they’d won just hours earlier at WrestleMania 41.
Rollins continued to grow in dominance as Bronson Reed joined his faction. Meanwhile, his wife Lynch won the Women’s Intercontinental Championship from Valkyria.
Rollins and Lynch must have had an idyllic few months travelling together, performing on WWE Raw and positioning themselves as the heads of the company.
But with Rollins now confined to his sofa, could Lynch lose the spark to remain on the road without him? She’ll have to be at the top of her game against Valkyria in a no-DQ match to not be the victim of a WWE SummerSlam title change.
But with Rollins no longer sharing the driving, could that have an impact on her desire to remain champion? Lynch’s fantastic role in Happy Gilmore 2 would have surely left her acting agent’s inbox bursting at the seams. Perhaps more acting roles and less travel would be more appealing to Lynch over the heavy schedule that comes from holding a WWE championship?
Only time will tell. But Rollins’ injury could definitely have a knock-on effect on WWE SummerSlam this Saturday and Sunday.
