Gunther and CM Punk Have a War of Words

  • CM Punk opened the show and said when he came back he had a couple of goals, to main event WrestleMania and to win the world heavyweight championship again. Punk said he accomplished one of those things but the other has been a little more difficult because there have been some distractions. But he’s taken care of that business and ready to move on. Gunther is one of the best wrestlers in the world and he’s looking forward to lacing it up against him. Punk said with the fans cheering him on, he can’t promise he’ll win but he can promise he will leave it all in the ring, not quit, and give everything he has. Gunther is one of the best wrestlers in the world, IC champ for over 600 days, second reign with his world title. He’s only got two weeks to prepare but then he realized he’s been training for this his whole life. He’s CM Punk. He’s not just any other wrestler or any other challenger. He’s the best in the world.
  • Cue the Ring General, who entered the ring and sized up his challenger. The “you tapped out”  and “CM Punk” chants continued for the very pro-Punk crowd. Gunther took it all in before addressing Punk. The crowd booed so he stopped. More “you tapped out” chants. Gunther turned back to Punk and said he didn’t come out here to insult him or create drama. He just wanted to point out some similarities. They are both here not to make friends but to make money and win championships. They both think they are the best in the world. Punk’s got a massive ego, they chanted his name every week he was away. But Gunther has a massive ego too and his is justified. It’s not based on what the fans think – that’s worthless. His ego is based on results, accolades Punk listed. It’s simple to Gunther, the best in the world is the one with the title. After the bell rings, Gunther is going to make Punk regret he’s ever stepped foot in a wrestling ring. He’s going to maul him, push him around, choke him out, and drop him like a wet towel. Punk will wake up staring at the lights and realize Gunther was right – he’ll never be world heavyweight champion, never be best in the world. Gunther said at least Punk has the fans aka “those degenerates” chanting for him for the rest of his life.

Stephanie Vaquer and Naomi

  • Stephanie Vaquer was asked about Chelsea Green and she said she’s not her problem. Naomi crashed the interview to introduce herself. Vaquer said she knew who she was. Naomi said when she won the triple threat at SummerSlam, it was going to be her and Vaquer at Clash in Paris. Naomi said IYO SKY was walking Vaquer like a dog before that match got interrupted and if it were her, she wouldn’t let that slight slide. Naomi told Vaquer she’d she her in Paris as Vaquer glared and Naomi laughed before walking away.

Rusev vs Sheamus

  • Rusev was out first as Raw went to commercial. Sheamus made his entrance second, definitely the crowd favorite in this one.
  • Sheamus and Rusev immediately fight outside of the ring  pushing each other into the barricades and landing a series of punches. Rusev gets Sheamus up with a series of suplexes before going for an early cover. Rusev continues to kick Sheamus into the ropes. Commentary noted the former friendship and rivalry as Sheamus hit a rolling senton followed by knee to the chest for his first cover of the match. More punches to the head from both guys before Sheamus throws Rusev into the corner and Rusev does the same. Rusev with stiff elbows to Sheamus’ back as the crowd boos him. Rusev eggs them on for more. He turns back to Sheamus and huge clothesline from the Irishman. Sheamus throws Rusev out of the ring and gets him back up. Looks for the 10 beats but Rusev hangs him up. Sheamus with knees before heading to the top rope. Sheamus a little off balance, falls off, but goes up a second time to take out Rusev on the outside before saying “are you not entertained?” Rusev on the outside tosses Sheamus over the announce table and onto the floor. Rusev in control as we go to break.
  • Rusev is back in the ring as Sheamus is being looked at by the official. Rusev gets the count going and it gets up to nine as Sheamus just makes it back in. Rusev starts stomping Sheamus in the corner and throws him around. Quick kick out by Sheamus on the pinning attempt. Rusev with a hold but Sheamus fights out. He misses with the clothesline allowing Rusev to hit the spinning heel kick. Rusev locks Sheamus into the ropes as he mocks him and kicks him in the back.
  • Back from commercial both guys are trading punches before Sheamus with a series of clotheslines and a backbreaker to take back the momentum. Rusev with a kick in the corner but Sheamus reverses as the Bulgarian runs the ropes to take him down. Rusev kicks out of the pinning attempt. With Rusev in the ropes, Sheamus sets up…10 beats. Rusev exposes the turnbuckle but Sheamus fights off and shoves Rusev face first instead. Rusev with the shillelagh but the official doesn’t see it. Sheamus with the Brogue and that’s a wrap. Sheamus beats Rusev for the first time ever.

Brutus Creed in for the first time. Double team by the Creeds and cover but no, del Toro kicks out. He’s thrown in the corner as Creed uses his power. del Toro continues to be isolated as both Creed and Kingston attack him in the middle of the ring.
  • Back from commercial and all three teams are in the ring. del Toro builds some momentum taking out both men. Hot tags all the way around. Joaquin Wilde takes out Julius Creed and Woods. Huge series from Wilde to take out everyone. Woods counters the backslide as Wilde almost pins both New Day. Wilde continues in control with everyone out of the ring. He climbs to the top but Nile pushes him down before he can take out the rest. Lee tends to him but Julius Creed pushes him out of the way. Lee with a huge kick to Creed before taking out Brutus too. Lee on the apron but El Grande Americano arrives and takes him down. The Creeds have words with El Grande before del Toro takes them all out of the outside. New Day up looking for the pin but Wilde manages a roll up and the LWO are No. 1 contenders!

Bayley and Lyra Valkyria

  • Backstage, Bayley is prepping for her match as Lyra Valkyria arrives. She said she spoke to Adam Pearce and can’t believe that Bayley asked for this match. Bayley said it’s their WrestleMania match they never got to have. Valkyria says she beat Bayley last week and she’s just focused on SummerSlam. SKY is looking forward to it because as she remembers, she had SKY beat. Vaquer says they don’t need to wait for Paris. SKY says why not find out tonight. Vaquer accepts the challenge and we’ve got a huge match set for later tonight.

Trick Williams

  • Trick Williams and his TNA World Championship are in the building. Williams is interviewed about silencing his doubters but he says he’s not worried about fans. He’s worried about himself and his gold. He’s a two-time NXT champ, Iron Survivor winner, North American championship winner. Vic Joseph says he likes how confident he is but there is one man who still questions him, the Undertaker. Williams says he has no problem with the Undertaker but Undertaker has a problem with him. It was his boys in the way so he stood on business and told them to move. Williams says Undertaker is popping off but his knees have an expiration date. He’s glad Undertaker likes to roll his eyes behind his head because he might knock him out tomorrow. And Undertaker can keep tweeting all he wants to but tomorrow might be his last ride.

Dominik Mysterio, AJ Styles, New Day, and Grayson Waller

  • Adam Pearce says Dominik Mysterio needs to go to medical but Mysterio says Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez texted him and they need his help so he can’t go now. Pearce walks away as AJ Styles shows up in a janitor’s outfit saying Mysterio better be cleared by the time he’s done mopping the floor. New Day arrive and Styles tells them to be careful, the floor is wet and he doesn’t want them to slip. Woods and Kingston are so confused. First Pearce kills his own tag team division, then there’s two El Grande Americanos. The only thing that makes sense is Styles is a janitor like he should have been. Kingston says the simulation is broken and calls for tech support. Woods says they are the greatest tag team of all time so they need to do something to restore order, they need an advantage. Grayson Waller shows up and says A Town Down Under is finally done so he’s available to help the New Day. Waller says he’s a free agent. Woods and Kingston discuss as Waller goes to bring the car around.

Becky Lynch

  • The crowd are booing and Becky Lynch tells them to stop and to put some appreciation on her name. She shouldn’t even be here, she should be in New York at the premiere of her new movie, Happy Gilmore 2. But instead she’s in Houston because that’s what leaders do. They do what they have to do and she has to address some important business. At Evolution, she had the slickest victory of all time and did what she said she was going to do. She held everybody down but was honest about it unlike Lyra Valkyria who spent months crying about how Lynch was a thief of opportunities. But now she’s bogarting opportunities to multiple titles. How greedy can she be? Who needs two titles? Well, when Lynch had two titles that was different, that was revolutionary and groundbreaking. Valkyria’s intentions are purely selfish. Lynch says as the leader of the division that all ends now. She summons Valkyria out.
  • Lynch says her and Valkyria are one for one. She’s brought out the best of her and made her a star but the free ride and trilogy ends at SummerSlam. Last time they went one on one, Lynch said if she lost to her she’d never challenge for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship ever again. She wants Valkyria to make the same challenge. Valkyria said she’s learning that every time she deals with a problem it comes back to haunt her. Her problem is she never goes far enough. She accepts Lynch’s terms but adds some of her own. No count outs, no DQs, there must be a winner. Lynch says fine before saying Valkyria has done nothing but disrespect her for months. She won’t disrespect the gravitas of the match or the title. This is the most important match in this title’s history so Lynch will once again be the bigger person and ask Valkyria to shake her hand. Valkyria goes to accept but Lynch was suckering her in. Valkyria scouted it though and hit Lynch with the Manhandle Slam before raising the title over her head as Bayley makes her way out.

Women’s Tag Team Championship Match

  • Bayley joins Valkyria in the ring before Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez enter accompanied by Dominik Mysterio. Commercial break as Bayley and Perez start with a lock up as Perez pushes Bayley into the ropes. Bayley pushes back and chases Rodriguez off the apron. Perez gets the better of Bayley as we return from commercial.

Rodriguez takes down Bayley easily and chases her into the corner. Bayley tags in Valkyria, who tries to take Rodriguez down but can’t. Rodriguez uses her power as Valkyria tags in Bayley. Bayley calls for the double team and Valkyria joins her but Rodgiruez stops in, taking out both women. Tag to Perez and double team from the champs to take out Bayley. Tag back to Rodriguez and Valkyria back in. She takes advantage as Bayley cheers her on. This distracts Valkyria and Rodriguez takes over followed by a cheap shot from Perez and clothesline from Rodriguez.
  • Into commercial, Rodriguez has taken over as the crowd chants “AJ Styles” at Mysterio. Double team from the champs again to send Valkyria into the corner. A second double team and cover but Valkyria kicks out. Perez takes over, mocking Valkyria as she steps on her shoulder. Valkyria reverses and quick sequence of roll up exchanges. Sami Zayn vs Karrion Kross

  • Sami Zayn is being interviewed backstage about his injuries. He’s supposed to be out indefinitely. Zayn says he’s not 100 percent but this doesn’t need to drag on any longer. It was one thing when Kross was lurking and trying to corrupt him but now he’s getting in the way of his goals. Zayn missed last week because of Kross. He missed the gauntlet match so Kross took away a championship opportunity from him. This doesn’t need to wait. He’s going to deal with this tonight.

Judgment Day

  • Finn Balor says its another successful night for the five champs. They are five of the toughest people walking but they aren’t whole because they are missing one special person. Balor says tonight is dedicated to Liv Morgan. McDonagh takes the mic and says LWO isn’t ready for them. Raquel Rodriguez says Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are going to meet the same fate Bayley and Lyra Valkyria met tonight. Mysterio tries to talk but the crowd boos him so Roxanne Perez says what he was trying to say was that Styles will need a doctor after what Mysterio does to him. Michael Cole continued to question the nature of Mysterio and Perez’ relationship.

Roman Reigns Addresses Paul Heyman

  • Paul Heyman is out first with the two Brons, Bronson Reed carrying out Seth Rollins’ MITB. Heyman does his usual shtick before endorsing both Reed and Bron Breakker as the future of the wrestling industry. Heyman says he has a lot he wants to get off his chest before Roman Reigns comes out. Well, Reigns isn’t waiting as the crowd chants “OTC.” Heyman curses under his breath as Reigns arrives to a huge reaction.
  • Heyman says he doesn’t want to be disrespectful or rude but the crowd is off to a bad start with him tonight. He apologizes to Reigns as the crowd chants “asshole” at him before transitioning into a “Roman Reigns” chant. Heyman tries again and is interrupted by more “OTC” chants as Reigns nods in acknowledgement. Heyman tries again and is booed. He says he doesn’t want to seem disrespectful or rude like someone born in Texas. More boos. He says Reigns needs to know Seth Rollins is going to be out of action for a long, long time, which opens up a leadership void in his group. Heyman says they can fix that void, they can put things back together between the two of them alongside the two Brons. Heyman says Reigns knows deep in his heart they are far better together than opposing each other. He says Reigns will always be his family because he loves his tribal chief. Heyman hands Reigns the mic as the crowd chants “you sold out.”
  • Reigns says he needs to put Heyman on pause… “H-town, acknowledge me.” Heyman joins in, putting his one up. Reigns addresses the crowd not sure what Heyman was talking about. He wants him to lead? A few years ago, Reigns would have said those were wise words from a wiseman but he’s not a wiseman anymore. He’s just a dumbass. Bron Breakker steps up but Heyman and Reed hold him back. Reigns tells Breakker to sit under the learning tree and write this down because Heyman is going to do the same thing to him as he did to Reigns. When he’s the man, he’s going to take all the credit like he tried to do with Reigns. Reigns has heard a lot of people try to take responsibility for creating the Tribal Chief but he can tell you it wasn’t Heyman. The only reason Reigns is the tribal cheif is because the fans still acknowledge him. He says the OTC was a champion, greatest champion to ever step foot in the ring. Heyman had a part in that but he didn’t have any part in Reigns keeping the title. The Usos did. Solo Sikoa did. “Yeet” chants as Reigns smiles. Sami Zayn even helped out. Reigns lost the title, it only took four years but he lost it. Then Heyman told everyone he tucked his tail, but in reality he went home to raise the future Bloodline. When we talk about the Bloodline, its family. The dumbass thought they were just another faction. He can create those but you can’t create the Bloodline, that was God’s work. Reigns says none of that really bothers him. What really bothers him is Heyman used to be a friend, a business partner. It was Reigns who made him a part of the family, chosen family. He was given responsibility and all he did was throw it all away. He threw it away for a best friend, someone he hadn’t talked to in over a decade. Don’t come out here and say Reigns ruined the Bloodline. He didn’t ruin it, Heyman did. Breakker steps in front of Heyman and comes face to face with Reigns before Heyman gives him the mic.
  • Breakker is booed as he tells Reigns to look around. They don’t want him here anymore. He’s yesterday’s news, the old dog. He hasn’t been relevant in five years. He’s just taking up a spot standing in Breakker’s ring. He’s glad Reigns didn’t take the offer because he knows Heyman won’t stab him in the back because he holds value and Reigns is worthless. Breakker says he’s the big dog now, the top dog, the future of WWE. He tells Reigns to do what he does best – turn around and leave. Reigns steps back before telling Breakker he didn’t hear any of that trash he just said. He didn’t think his mic was working and if he needs to say it again to use his. Reigns throws him the mic before taking him down with a Superman Punch. Reigns goes after Bronson Reed allowing Breakker to get Reigns with a spear. Both men take out Reigns before Jey Uso’s music hits.
  • Uso charges the ring and takes out Reed and Breakker with kicks and rights. Uso and Reigns with the double spear to take out both. Uso stands tall as the two Brons roll out on the outside. Uso helps Reigns to his feet and the two embrace as they hold court. Bloodline never dies.
