The Nygma’s View

With six matches announced and four titles on the line (as of writing), TNA Against All Odds complements the previous PPV, Under Siege. As mentioned two weeks ago, we can view Against All Odds as the final part of a two-part story.

If some of you watched “The Dukes of Hazzard,” an old US TV series, “Scare me, Sheriff” is the closest translation of the French title for the same show. With a War of Sheriffs on the menu, it was more than appropriate.

NXT’s Robert Stone asserted his power as the Sheriff and stacked the deck in favor of his supporters, Victoria Crawford and Tessa Blanchard. He also made life difficult for Arianna Grace, Santino Marella’s daughter. Stone will battle Marella at Against All Odds, where the winner will become the official TNA Director of Authority.

Stone hadn’t competed in a TNA ring since 2017 when he teamed up with Victoria Crawford last week. As a fan of some Milan Miracles, Nygma says: There can only be one Sheriff in town.

Joe Hendry’s world came crashing down when he was dethroned as TNA World Champion by NXT’s Trick Williams. But as the old saying goes, there’s no rest for the weary, especially in TNA Wrestling. While Hendry’s ultimate goal of reclaiming the TNA World Championship undoubtedly remains, he must first settle an old score with one of his fiercest rivals, Frankie Kazarian.

The two will meet in a highly anticipated grudge match. I still don’t believe in Joe Hendry.

Kazarian remains in pursuit of his first TNA World Championship. If there’s one match where “two former multi-time TNA Champions” are set to appear, Nygma will bet on this one.

After retaining the TNA World Tag Team Championship over Matt Hardy and Leon Slater at Under Siege, the brash and arrogant Nemeth brothers must now turn their attention towards their next challengers. Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz are former TNA World Tag Team Champions in their own right, and will look to make it two times against Nic and Ryan Nemeth at Against All Odds. Nygma says: Robbery in progress.

Masha Slamovich kept her trend-setting Knockouts World Championship reign alive as she defeated Victoria Crawford at Under Siege. But when Slamovich offered a well-deserved title opportunity to Léi Ying Lee, Sheriff Stone made her earn it.

As she did earn it, Lee vowed to become Knockouts World Champion for the very first time when she meets Masha Slamovich at Against All Odds. Nygma doesn’t see Slamovich losing, but this will be a great match.

Then, are interferences expected? More than probably.

Steve Maclin has been on a roll since becoming the first-ever TNA International Champion. Following victories over Eric Young and Matt Cardona, Maclin must now face his toughest challenger to date, the unhinged Mance Warner.

There is no line that Warner will not cross, now imagine what he is willing to do with the TNA International Championship at stake. Who will leave Against All Odds with gold over their shoulder?

Steve Maclin has been heroic in and outside the ring. He paved his way to become a kind of standard in TNA Wrestling, the same way Josh Alexander was not so long ago.

As Tommy Dreamer told him, not only does he fight for himself, but for the fans and every member of the locker room. Nygma says: Maclin retains, and Dreamer gets involved. So, a Warner vs. Dreamer match may be in the making.

New TNA World Champion Trick Williams made his first defense of the title when he defeated Mike Santana on WWE NXT, albeit with help from A.J. Francis and KC Navarro of FIR$T CLA$$. Williams would also get into an altercation with Elijah at the ringside, setting the stage for this high-stakes championship showdown.

I ask myself why Elijah became the #1 contender so fast when Joe Hendry probably had a rematch possibility. Nygma doesn’t expect a title change, so enjoy Trick-NA for now.

Will some guitars die on PPV? And, more importantly, on whose back or head? Nygma says: At least one, and please, on my behalf.

I’ll see you tomorrow for the weekly iMPACT! After The Bell and on Saturday for a special “Against All Odds” After The Bell. May the Nygma be with you.
