WWE official Triple H with the representatives Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide after their acquisition.

WWE Announces Acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA; World’s Collide Event in June

WWE announced during the “WWE WrestleMania 41 kickoff show” that it has acquired Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. This announcement sends shockwaves throughout the wrestling community.

Huge News

Michael Cole announced this news before going to Dorian Pena, the General Manager of AAA. Pena expressed the importance and impact of this move and what it may mean for the two brands in the future.

Alongside AAA management was Paul “Triple H” Levesque, who took time to recant the story of his first experience with AAA 30 years ago. Levesque was speaking, of course, of the first WCW x AAA crossover entitled “When Worlds Collide”.

Mutual Respect

Levesque told the management team of AAA that he and the WWE have nothing but respect for what Lucha Libre means to wrestling and will mean for the future of wrestling.

Levesque went on to let the fans know that the first interaction between WWE and AAA will come Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at the Forum in Los Angeles for “Worlds Collide”. Levesque and the “kickoff crew” were surrounded by Lucha Libre talents from both WWE and AAA. Some names on stage include: Rey Mysterio, Stephanie Vaquer, Andrade, Vikingo, Penta, Dragon Lee, and Rey Fenix.

This acquisition marks the first major brand purchase by WWE since its purchase of WCW. The tie-in can be hugely beneficial to both sides if done right. We here at LWOS will keep you updated with all future updates from this major move.
