Dominik Mysterio has his hands full on both WWE Monday Night Raw and Lucha Libre AAA. He is scheduled to face Danhausen at SummerSlam on Sunday amidst chaos within Judgment Day. But he also had to deal with Los Perros del Mal as the AAA Mega Champion after many attacks by the faction.
To deal with them, he enlisted the help of El Grande Americano to face off against two of their members. On night one of AAA Verano de Escandalo, they faced off against Angel and their leader, Daga.
However, Angel and Daga won as he abandoned Americano near the end of the match. Afterward, Dorian Roldan and Omos approached him from behind. But they didn’t attack him; instead, they shook hands and solidified a shocking alliance. He is now a member of two major factions on two separate WWE brands. Was this a good decision, or will this lead to a downfall that could potentially cost him his AAA Mega Championship?
Dominik Mysterio Has Powerful Backup Against Any Opponent
If there’s one thing that Mysterio is known for, it’s that he’s always used cheating to his advantage. Whether it’s himself doing despicable things or members of the Judgment Day helping him out, he always manages to sneak out a victory. With his father Rey as the AAA General Manager, he probably realized that it wouldn’t be as easy now to do those things. By aligning with El Ojo, he has the biggest advantage of all right beside him to help him get important wins.
Omos has shown his power and size for years across WWE. On May 23 at AAA, he defeated Chris Carter, Daimo, and Kingoo in a three-on-one handicap match with ease. He’s also very intimidating, as shown earlier in the night when he and Roldan confronted Rey about the vacant AAA Latin American Championship. Mysterio aligning with them is a smart move. Omos will use his size to help him secure important wins to keep him AAA Mega Champion.
Who He Betrayed, and Joined Could Ruin His Success

Mysterio is no stranger to betraying wrestlers, with Americano being the latest one on a long list. However, Americano now has the respect of Chad Gable after their incredible mask vs. mask match on night one of Noche de los Grandes.
He hasn’t returned to AAA yet, but promised to do so that night. There’s no way he doesn’t know about Mysterio’s betrayal, so his coming back to defend Americano would be a great way to return. Mysterio also joined El Ojo last Saturday.
There was a third member who is currently injured, El Hijo del Vikingo. He has been Mysterio’s greatest rival since WWE bought AAA, losing the AAA Mega Championship to him at Worlds Collide: Las Vegas last year. There’s no question he’s furious about getting replaced in El Ojo.
Mysterio may have joined an important faction, but doing so has created many enemies. Gable and Vikingo will definitely target him upon their returns, which could create chaos and trouble caused by his own decision-making.
What is Mysterio’s Future in AAA?
What happened on Saturday night was a huge moment that can change the course of AAA in a major way. Mysterio betrayed Americano, leaving him to be pinned and then attacked by Los Perros del Mal. Then he joined El Ojo as the third member, shocking everyone.

However, Americano has a major connection in Gable, who has made up with the luchadores of WWE and is willing to defend them at any time. El Ojo’s actual third member is Vikingo, who’s currently out of action with a torn ACL.
He has faced Vikingo several times, and beat him for the AAA Mega Championship to kick off his ongoing reign. With this move, he has secured both a part in a powerful faction and security with Omos and Roldan. But he has now made enemies in Americano, Bravo and Rayo, and more than likely Gable and Vikingo when they return. Mysterio has to be careful in the future as his decision has likely ignited fury in many different wrestlers.
