Why a Disqualification Happened in the Fatu vs. Strowman Match

Why a Disqualification Happened in the Fatu vs. Strowman Match

Wrestling matches are usually won by pinfall or submission with a clear winner. However, there is another way that matches can end. A disqualification can occur if someone enters the ring and attacks a wrestler or if a wrestler uses a foreign object to their advantage.

Usually, those endings are saved for complex storylines and heated rivalries. On the March 21, 2025 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, fans got to see a disqualification ending. Jacob Fatu was facing off against Braun Strowman to get a United States Championship match.

Things were going well until Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga entered the ring. They attacked Strowman, causing Fatu to get disqualified, ending his chances of competing for a championship. This is one of the times where a disqualification helps everyone involved, as many storylines are developing for both The Bloodline and Braun Strowman.

Jacob Fatu Has a Clear Reason to Turn on Solo Sikoa

For the past couple of weeks, fans have noticed some dissension within The Bloodline. Jacob Fatu hasn’t exactly been on the same page as everyone else, namely Solo Sikoa. It seems like WWE is planting the seeds for a feud, potentially at WrestleMania.

It’s only a matter of time before Fatu gets a chance at some gold. But it won’t happen this Friday, as his fellow stablemate cost him a shot at a title.

It’s been clear for months that Sikoa takes his role as Tribal Chief very seriously. His feud with Roman Reigns showed that nothing will get in the way of him being in charge.

However, Fatu with a title could be a threat to his leadership, which is why the disqualification was likely on purpose. This action likely helped to propel a feud for the leadership of The Bloodline in a major way.

Braun Strowman Can Finally Get Back in the Spotlight

Braun Strowman was one of the top big men in WWE for years. Debuting with the Wyatt Family, he astounded everyone with his strength and wrestling ability. He won his first title at WrestleMania 36, carrying the Universal Championship through the first few months of the pandemic. But the past couple of years haven’t been the best for him.

Various injuries have kept him on the shelf for months, but Friday’s disqualification could be the ray of sunshine he needed. Taking the United States Championship from LA Knight can significantly improve his stock. He’ll not only have another championship, but he’ll win it at the perfect time.

There are only three and a half weeks until WrestleMania 41, pretty much ensuring that he’ll carry it if it happens. Getting a WrestleMania match as the United States Champion could help Braun Strowman get back to his dominant self.

Sometimes a Disqualification Ending Helps Everyone

When a disqualification happens in a wrestling match, there’s usually one person that benefits from it. However, in the case of Fatu vs. Strowman, everyone involved is better off with the match result.

Jacob Fatu has a legitimate reason to turn on Solo Sikoa, potentially battling for the leadership of the Bloodline. Braun Strowman has a United States Championship match that can potentially turn his fortunes in a big way. The fans are also in for a treat, as the possibilities for good television are pretty high.

Regarding Fatu and Sikoa, another Bloodline family member feud could add another layer to their overall story. If Strowman wins on Friday, fans can see him with a championship in person for the first time, as his first title run wasn’t in front of fans.

Having a disqualification ending helps both Jacob Fatu and Braun Strowman greatly on their road to WrestleMania.
