NJPW’s STRONG Openweight Champion is set for action on the February 22 episode of AEW Collision.
Following Toni Storm’s AEW Women’s World Champion celebration, a video package preceded a Collision graphic advertising Gabe Kidd for this Saturday’s episode of Collision. The vignette showcased Kidd’s moveset and New Japan Pro Wrestling matches.
Currently, Kidd’s NJPW contract is nearing its expiration date. It remains to be seen whether he’ll sign a contract, make an appearance, or face off in a singles competition.
As it stands, the current landscape of professional wrestling will start fiery bidding wars for talents such as Kidd and fellow upcoming free agents such as David Finlay, Kevin Knight, and more.
Although divisive, Kidd could make a huge splash in AEW’s men’s division with his talents and charisma. However, he would have to tone down his vocabulary for American television.
Gabe Kidd recently reached high acclaim following his match against Kenny Omega at January 4’s Wrestle Kingdom. What makes this development interesting is that his character wholly professed his loyalty and love to New Japan Pro Wrestling. Of course, that’s the nature of pro wrestlers; make fans believe everything.
He began a meteoric rise in 2024 after winning the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship in 2024. Defeating AEW’s own Eddie Kingston in a No Ropes Last Man Standing Match, Kidd has not yet dropped the title as of this writing.
Most recently, Kidd suffered an assault by the Bullet Club’s subgroup, House of Torture. This sparks a civil war for the soul of the iconic faction, with Kidd and the War Dogs set to clash with the House of Torture.
