Three Huge Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches Announced Pitting Rivals Head-to-Head

On Monday Night Raw, the Road to WrestleMania officially kicked off on TV with two Elimination Chamber qualifying matches. On the women’s side, Liv Morgan faced off against IYO Sky, and on the men’s side, Sami Zayn met CM Punk in a first-time-ever clash between the two legends. Both of those matches were fantastic, soliciting “this is awesome” chants from the crowd. In the women’s match, Morgan utilized interference from both Raquel Rodriguez and Rhea Ripley to book her trip to the chamber, expertly orchestrating a disqualification that led to her winning the match that Sky looked poised to secure a victory. On the men’s side, Punk and Zayn wrestled an incredible, evenly-matched contest that even saw Punk shake Zayn’s hand after as a show of respect after he won with a Helluva Kick countered into a GTS. If these matches are any indication of how the rest of the qualifiers will go, we are in for an absolute series of bangers over the next few weeks.

Elimination Chamber Participants:

John Cena – earned his spot by calling his shot and putting himself in the match

CM Punk – earned his spot by defeating Sami Zayn

Liv Morgan – earned her spot by defeating IYO Sky by disqualification

Elimination Chamber Qualifying Matches Announced

Rey Mysterio vs Logan Paul and Bayley vs Lyra Valkryia Announced for Next Week

Next week on Raw will see two more qualifying matches as Rey Mysterio will take on Logan Paul and Bayley will battle Lyra Valkyria. To set up these matches, WWE aired a video hype package on Monday, promoting Bayley vs Valkyria, and had Paul get involved in the New Day vs LwO tag team match to cost Mysterio and Dragon Lee the match. Mysterio and Paul engaged in some words during the match as the commentators reminded that Mysterio will have a chance to get his revenge on Paul, who defeated Mysterio to win the United States Championship at Crown Jewel in 2023. Meanwhile, this will be a first-time meeting for Bayley and Valkyria.

Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor Planned

While it was not announced as to when this match will occur, during his promo near the end of Raw, Seth Rollins confirmed that he would be competing for his spot in the Elimination Chamber by taking on his old rival Finn Balor. Balor, who returned to action after two weeks by competing in the Royal Rumble on Saturday, has a long history with Rollins. Their rivalry goes back nearly a decade when Balor defeated Rollins to become the first-ever WWE Universal Champion in 2016. Since then, the two have competed against each other multiple times over multiple titles (Intercontinental, United States, World Heavyweight), and even enjoyed a brief tag team partnership in 2018. They last wrestled against each other in singles action in 2023, during a program where Balor was trying to capture Rollins’ world title.
