A match graphic for WWE Raw featuring Chad Gable, and a mystery opponent that's potentially Penta.

Preview: WWE Raw (1/13/25) – Penta Debut, Street Fight & Women’s IC Final

The red carpet glitzy Hollywood WWE Raw on Netflix premiere is done. Here’s our WWE Raw preview for the first proper show of the Netflix Era.

The debut on Netflix from the shiny Intuit Dome half-full of celebrities, corporate sponsors, and wrestlers was a perfect celebration and introduction to the brand. But it didn’t feel like an episode of WWE Raw.

WWE has put together a fantastic card for WWE Raw on January 13, 2025. This will give us a proper idea of what to expect weekly on Netflix.

WWE Raw streams live on Netflix at 8/7c from the SAP Center in San Jose, California.

Match Card WWE Raw (1/13/25)

  • Street Fight: Finn Bรกlor vs. Damian Priest
  • Chad Gable vs. A Mystery Luchador (Penta)
  • Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser
  • WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Lyra Valkyria vs. Dakota Kai

WWE Raw Preview: Match Card

Chad Gable will face a mystery luchador as part of his strategy to prove he doesn’t have a curse when facing masked wrestlers. Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee have both pinned Gable recently.

WWE Raw GM Adam Pearce granted Gable’s request for the match moments after WWE had aired a vignette for Penta making his debut.

Penta has held world championships in Lucha Underground and Impact, and tag team gold with his brother Rey Fenix in AEW, Ring of Honor and AAA. Speaking in the post-WWE Raw on Netflix show, Triple H said most people had already put two and two together.

Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser continue their ongoing feud with both men boasting victories over the other. A shot at Bron Breakker’s Intercontinental Championship will be the reward for the winner.

The Judgement Day has dominated TV time on WWE Raw over the past few years. The faction’s ever-evolving members and in-fighting have also monopolized the men’s and women’s World Championships.

There wasn’t much time for the former leader-turned-chief-antagonist of the faction Damian Priest, or not-leader-but-definitely-leader Finn Bรกlor on the premiere broadcast on Netflix. This week, they get to rip each other to pieces on the streaming service in a street fight.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship Final

Two women born of different continents – Oceania and Europe – meet in North America for the final of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tournament.

If we can take Dakota Kai’s social media posts literally – and I hope we can – she’s bringing the flaming tables to the fight.

In 1979, WWF North American Heavyweight Champion Pat Patterson won a tournament in Brazil for the South American Heavyweight Championship. This unified the titles and created the Intercontinental Championship.

Patterson was the first holder of this new title. But both the tournament and South American title were said to be totally made up.

The route to crowning the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Championship can be authenticated much easier.

New Zealand’s Dakota Kai returned from a four-month injury to defeat Shayna Baszler and Katana Chance in the first round of the tournament. She then saw off Zoey Stark to make the final.

Meanwhile, Irish Lyra Valkyria completed her impressive ascent to the top of the women’s mid-card since being drafted to WWE Raw in April to also make the final. Valkyria made the finals of the Queen of the Ring and qualified for the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match this summer.

The former NXT Women’s Champion came up short in both those high-profile matches but will hope to finally win when it matters against Kai.
