WWE WrestleMania 40: The Usos Sibling Rivalry Will Be a “Show-Stealer”

A match graphic for WWE WrestleMania 40 featuring the Grudge match between The Usos.

The start of this year’s WWE Royal Rumble provided us with a lot. The crowd’s reaction to Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso starting the match as the first two entrants solidified the overwhelming desire of fans to see The Usos fight at WrestleMania 40. And fight they will. And see it fans will.

60,012 fans at the Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia will see the intense twin tussle.

There will be no Brotherly Love when Jimmy and Jey Uso go to war at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia. It will be just the third time that the brothers have met in a match at WrestleMania. Five, if you count supernatural brothers, which we 100% do. Check out our feature on WWE WrestleMania brother vs. brother battles.

But read on for why The Usos is the most emotional brother bout of all time that many claim will steal the show at WrestleMania 40.

The Usos Will Steal The Show

The Usos father Rikishi told on his Off The Top podcast that Jimmy and Jey would ‘show the world’ what they can do and leave nothing in the ring.

‘I’m excited,’ Rikishi said. ‘To have my two sons out there at WrestleMania. You’re finally going to see the dream match. Uso vs. Uso. Yeet vs. No Yeet.’

Rikishi confirmed he will be in Philadelphia during WrestleMania 40 weekend. He added that The Usos match would make history, in a post on X.

Rikishi expects big things from the match. But what does former WWE star Top Dolla think? He took to X to declare it would steal the show.

The Usos at WrestleMania 40: Jimmy vs. Jey

The match will mark the first time twin brothers have fought at ‘The Showcase of the Immortals.’

The few minutes we got of the twins in the ring alone they whetted the appetite for a WrestleMania match. It also reminded us how unrivaled the brothers are when showing emotion.

Jey – in particular – is an expert at showing the gut-wrenching pain the fallout with his twin causes him. In seconds Jey can convey pain, sadness, grief, and anger. He’s had plenty of practice over the past few months as his ‘big brother’ has cost him opportunity after opportunity.

Is this the same Jimmy and Jey Uso who headlined night one of last year’s WrestleMania 39? Yep. But they were 622 days into being the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions. What the heck has happened?

Jimmy vs. Jey: Where Did It All Go Wrong?

Inseparable since birth, The Usos bond helped them become one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history. But when Roman Reigns reimagined himself as the ‘Tribal Chief’ in 2020, he began pitting the twins against each other.

Both struggled with Reigns demanding unwavering dedication from them. But they seemed to struggle more when they saw him mistreating their twin. It was all worth it when they held the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship but The Usos lost that to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 39.

Reigns, along with The Uso’s younger brother Solo Sikoa, attempted to win the gold back for The Bloodline at Night of Champions in May 2023. But when an interference by Jimmy and Jey backfired and they accidentally hit Solo, Reigns slapped Jey and ordered him from the ring.

Jimmy cracked. He kicked Reigns. Jey looked shocked. Confused he pleaded with his brother not to assault their cousin. Jimmy said he was doing it for Jey and launched another kick on Reigns. Needless to say, Owens and Zayn retained.

Jey sided with Reigns. But then we had the ultimate feel-good moment. Jey finally turned on Reigns and embraced Jimmy. The twins were together and no longer under the control of Reigns.

Jey went into a WWE Undisputed Championship match against Reigns at SummerSlam with his brother by his side. Then, the unthinkable happened. Jimmy cost Jey the match.

Jimmy claimed he did this because he couldn’t risk losing Jey. With Jey as the WWE Undisputed Champion, Jimmy feared he would inherit all the bad traits of their egotistical cousin Reigns.

Jey couldn’t handle the betrayal. He left WWE SmackDown to strike out on his own on the WWE Raw roster.

‘Yeet’ It’s “Main Event” Jey Uso

Things have been great for Jey on Raw. He’s arguably the most popular member of the roster. Fans from Salt Lake to San Antonio have been uncontrollably shouting ‘Yeet’ every time they see him. From Minnesota to Maine attendees of Raw have gleefully bounced their hands in time with Jey.

Jey Uso became the top merchandise seller on shop.WWE.com and is the third most-played character on WWE 2K24

He’s been at the top of the card and is well and truly ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso. The only issue is Jimmy can’t live without him.

Jey and Cody Rhodes won the tag gold from Owens and Zayn. But then Jimmy interrupted their defense against The Judgement Day and cost them the titles. Jey attempted to end the streak of Gunther as Intercontinental Champ, but guess who got involved? Jimmy. Jimmy cost Jey once more against Drew McIntyre

Now, Jey has laid down the challenge for Twin vs. Twin at WrestleMania 40. It’s certain to be intense, physical, and full

of emotion. Watch out! Because it could steal the whole weekend.

The Usos cousins Roman Reigns and The Rock will headline night one of WrestleMania 40 when they face Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

Night two will be headlined by Reigns vs. Rhodes for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. This match will be Bloodline rules or Bloodline barred from ringside. Depending on who wins on night one.
