Notable Moments From AEW Revolution 2024: Where All These Stories Could Go

AEW Revolution 2024 was one for the books. It was a PPV to remember for sure, with many memorable moments throughout the night. Although there were many, I will list a few notable moments from the incredible PLE and where all these stories could go. Let’s start with the TNT Championship bout.

Notable Moments From AEW Revolution 2024: Where All These Stories Could Go

Daniel Garcia Looks Like A Star

The first match of AEW Revolution was between TNT Champion Christian Cage and Daniel Garcia. The wily veteran Christian used everyone and everything to his advantage. He had his powerhouse Killswitch and the resourceful Mother Wayne, and he even faked a foot injury to his advantage.

However, sneaky prodigy Nick Wayne cost Daniel Garcia the match and secured the victory for his father figure, Christian Cage. Whether you love him or hate him, Christian is having an incredible TNT championship run.

Dare I say the best TNT champion in AEW history? Look for Christian to maybe wrestle the likes of Jay White, Kyle O’Reilly, or Hook in the future. Someone like Bryan Danielson would be interesting, too.

All this just made Daniel Garcia look like a million bucks. His wrestling and technique abilities were never in question. Garcia always has phenomenal matches, but all he needed was character development. Tonight, thanks to Christians’ villainous character, it helped us see how great a babyface Garcia works.

The underdog character suits him so well, and he gets even better by the week. Even the fans are behind him now. It is about time we give this man a championship in AEW.

A rematch against Christian? Or a match against Roderick Strong for the AEW International Championship? Maybe Garcia gets sidetracked by his buddy Matt Mernard? A crack at the Continental Crown championship?

Continental Crown Championship Bout

This bout was notable and an important part of AEW Revolution. It was one of the best matches of the night between Continental Crown Champion Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson.

Each time these two meet in the ring, you can expect it to be physical and brutal. Both stars gave it everything they had, but Eddie Kingston’s resilience won him the match.

Kingston overcame an injured right hand during the match to defeat Danielson with an impressive lariat and powerbomb. Finally, Danielson showed Kingston respect and shook his hand.

The backstage segment at AEW Revolution between both stars after the match was incredible. Both men showed love and respect to one another after a hard-fought match, which means Danielson and Kingston will most likely stop fighting.

Kingston could be looking for new opponents like Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, Konosuke Takeshita, Darby Allin, or Sammy Guevara. Meanwhile, it looks like Danielson is turning face maybe he turns against Jon Moxley and the Blackpool Combat Club.

If that happens, Danielson may start going for the AEW World Champion Samoa Joe.

Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, and Adam Page

AEW World Heavyweight Champion Samoa Joe retains his title at AEW Revolution because of the other two competitors’ hatred for one another. The storyline between Swerve Strickland and Adam Page highlighted this match. Their bitter rivalry is quite an interesting one.

It started with a babyface Page against a heel Swerve. But after the whole continental classic tournament, the roles were reversed. Swerve seems to want to move on from Page and focus on winning the World Heavyweight Championship. One day he will be, the fans love him and he needs to win it sooner rather than later.

However, Page seems hell-bent on making sure Swerve never becomes champion. He even beat up the ref at AEW Revolution when it seemed Swerve was about to pin Samoa Joe. Page even tapped out quickly from Joe’s chokehold when he saw Swerve getting up just so Swerve could lose. Now that is petty.

Page and Swerve will probably feud for the next couple of weeks that is for sure. After their feud, Swerve should be the one feuding for the World Heavyweight championship. A Page versus Will Ospreay rivalry would be intriguing.

But Page teaming up with The Young Bucks and forming the ultimate heel Executive VP faction to make sure Swerve never wins would be just as interesting. It is very clear where Samoa Joe is heading, a championship match against the winner of the All-Star scramble match Wardlow who won at AEW Revolution.

Now that the World Heavyweight Championship picture is done, what about the Women’s Championship picture?

AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm

‘Timeless’ Toni Storm defeated her biggest challenge ‘The Virtuosa’ Deonna Purrazzo at AEW Revolution. This was all thanks to her laces, Luther and Mariah May. Deonna Purrazzo dominated the whole match only for two distractions from Luther and May to cost the Virtuosa the match.

A notable moment was Mariah May coming out as the old Toni Storm.

The gimmick from when she was in the WWE. This opens up two possible storylines for Toni Storm. One is a rematch against Purrazzo and the other is against Mariah May.

The crazed fan Mariah May could be next if booked correctly. Toni Storm retained this time but things weren’t so lucky for the former International Champion Orange Cassidy.

New International Champion and a return

Orange Cassidy has been an incredible and resilient AEW International championship. After carrying that championship for 145 days Cassidy had no more fight in him at AEW Revolution.

His injured back was the target from the get-go of the match. Roderick Strong took full advantage and dominated the whole match targeting the injured back and neck area of the former champion. Strong easily won his first championship in AEW. But that was not the only surprise.

Kyle O’Reilly is back at AEW Revolution! The talented mixed martial artist hybrid returned after an almost two-year absence from AEW due to injury.

What was interesting is he embraced Strong. Roderick Strong wanted him to join him and Adam Cole again, this time in the Undisputed Kingdom by offering their brand shirt. Kyle O’Reilly declined and instead whispered something to Strong.

Undisputed Kingdom Saga

This will cause tension between Adam Cole and Roderick Strong unless Kyle O’Reilly joins the Undisputed Kingdom. Strong will most likely have a rematch against Orange Cassidy.

But after that maybe the storyline is for Kyle O’Reilly to either join the Undisputed Kingdom and go for the TNT or Continental Crown Championship or he will feud with Roderick Strong and the Undisputed Kingdom instead.

Maybe O’Reilly steals Strong from Adam Cole. An O’Reilly versus Adam Cole match would be a potential match-of-the-year candidate just like this next match-up from AEW Revolution.

Will Ospreay versus Konosuke Takeshita

This match at AEW Revolution has a match of the year candidate written all over it. This match was everything you expected and more. Fast-paced, intense, physical, and athletic, and two incredible technical athletes trying to one-up one another.

This was a match between two members of the Don Callis Family although Don Callis seemed to favor Takeshita. However, Ospreay was the better man that night in his official debut as an official member of the AEW roster.

Ospreay got the win and a stare-down after the match from another Don Callis member, Kyle Fletcher, whom Ospreay will face on AEW this Wednesday night.

AEW Revolution showcased why Will Ospreay was worth the hype. He is a future World Heavyweight Champion in AEW. For now, it looks like he will be feuding with The Don Callis family. It is very likely the Don Callis family is jealous of his popularity and kicks him out.

Ospreay seems better off on his own as a singles competitor. His future is very bright in AEW. As good as this match was it was only overshadowed by the final match of the ‘The Icon’ Sting.

Sting Rides into the Sunset as a Champion

The main event of AEW Revolution 2024 was a tag team match for the AEW Tag Team Championships. This match was the defending champs Sting and Darby Allin against The Young Bucks.

AEW did right by Sting in his farewell match. It started with a heartfelt tribute to Sting’s iconic career. It was followed by the entrance of Sting where his two sons dressed like the two different eras of Sting in his legendary career. They accompanied their father to the ring.

The match was not only good but surprisingly dangerous. Honorable mention was Darby Allin going through the glass from a ladder where you could see blood and glass covering his body. Sting took quite a few bumps too like a powerbomb through a table.

The Young Bucks threw everything at Sting and Darby but the champs prevailed. It ended with one last legendary Scorpion death drop for the win.

Sting and Darby left AEW Revolution undefeated and Sting remained undefeated at AEW to the very end.

What’s next for the Tag Team Scene in AEW?

With Darby and Sting retaining and Sting retiring it is more likely Allin will have to relinquish the tag team championships.

A tour named for the vacated championship seems like the right move. FTR, Undisputed Kingdom, Don Callis Family, The Bang Bang Scissor Gang, Blackpool Combat Club, and of course, The Young Bucks could all be participants in the tournament.

Maybe Allin will rejoin the tournament with a new partner. Whatever happens, it will be quite interesting to see what is in store for the Tag Team Championships after AEW Revolution and Allin now that the legendary Sting is retired. All we can say now is ‘Thank You Sting!’ for a legendary career and the memories.
