Preview: WWE SmackDown (1/26/24) – Royal Rumble Go-Home Show

Promotional graphic for WWE SmackDown.

The final stop before one of the biggest WWE premium live events this year, WWE SmackDown will get the ball rolling this Friday night with its stacked card ahead of the ever-exciting Royal Rumble extravaganza!

On this week’s episode of the Friday night spectacular, the WWE Universe will bear witness to a few intensely personal grudge matches. Plus, a title match between two of the fiercest teams the division has to offer, and a lot more.

We’re officially one day away from the Royal Rumble this Friday night, but WWE Friday Night SmackDown will still deliver a PLE-caliber live on Fox! Without further ado, here is a preview of WWE SmackDown. Let’s run it down.

Full WWE SmackDown Match Card:

  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Austin Theory
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Katana Chance & Kayden Carter (c) vs. The Kabuki Warriors
  • Carlito vs. Santos Escobar
  • Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits Face-To-Face w/ The Final Testament

Latin(o) Heat

A bout that was supposed to transpire at last year’s WWE Survivor Series: WarGames is now finally happening as LWO member Carlito battles his bitter-rival Santos Escobar. On last week’s WWE SmackDown, the six-man tag team contest between the LWO versus Escobar, Angel, and Humberto ended in a very controversial fashion.

Escobar and his cronies got the less-than-ideal win. However, Carlito still isn’t letting up one bit and wants a piece of Santos Escobar after of months animosity between the two. Fortunately, WWE higher-ups made the right call and officially sanctioned this match for the Royal Rumble Go-Home Show.

After nearly a year of tension and intense hate, can Carlito and Santos Escobar finally end their blood rivalry once and for all?

Kickin’ it with Katana and Kayden

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter pulled off a successful title defense as they defeated Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre. Unfortunately, there is no rest for the wicked as for the second week in a row Chance and Carter will defend their titles.

That said, they won’t be defending the titles against just another team. Katana and Kayden will be defending against former champions in their own right and one of the best teams ever to do it in the form of the Kabuki Warriors.

Asuka and Kairi Sane, along with the rest of Damage CTRL, have been on an absolute tear as of late. On this warpath, each member of the group vows they will claim gold and hold every significant price the WWE Women’s Division has to offer.

At the end of the latest installment of WWE SmackDown, who will walk away with the titles? Will Chance and Carter pull off another big win? Or will The Kabuki Warriors secure another reign with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles?

All that and more this Friday night on WWE SmackDown only on Fox! And, we will see you, the WWE Universe, this Saturday night for the Royal Rumble event!
