This week’s episode of WWE NXT provides the fallout from NXT Deadline, which took place on Saturday, December 9. The final WWE PLE of the year was a stacked one and effectively set up the remainder of the year whilst also setting up the new year’s stories in a major way. There is a lot of movement within NXT at the present time, and this can be expected to be highlighted in this week’s NXT.

Here is all you need to know ahead of the December 12 edition of WWE NXT.

NXT Match Card:

  • Eddie Thorpe vs. Dijak – Singles Match
  • Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah & Lash Legend) vs. Brooks Jensen, Josh Briggs & Fallon Henley – Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match

Men’s Breakout Tournament Begins

The 2023 Men’s Breakout Tournament is set to begin on the December 12 edition of NXT, and it is quite a promising field of competitors. Namely, the tournament will feature Riley Osborne, Keanu Carver, Tavion Heights, Dion Lennox, Luca Crusifino, Myles Borne, Trey Bearhill, and Oba Femi.

A number of these superstars have already made appearances within the WWE Universe, whether as NXT enhancement talent or with stints on NXT Level Up.

The Breakout Tournament has had victors such as Carmelo Hayes and Roxanne Perez in the past, and Lola Vice was the most recent to win the tournament. The December 12 NXT will most likely feature all eight superstars being introduced on TV before a few of them partake in match-ups that same evening.

This tournament has been known to produce standout superstars, and on December 12, wrestling fans will get a first look at stars in the making.

Iron Survivor Challenge Winners Lay Out Their Paths To Glory

At the Deadline PLE, the Iron Survivor Challenge matches stole the show. Both the women’s and men’s matches produced stellar moments that still have wrestling fans raving. The women’s match saw Blair Davenport overcome her opponents, whilst Trick Williams did the unimaginable by bouncing back to defeat his opponents in the men’s match.

Davenport and Williams’ futures are already determined, with them set to challenge Lyra Valkyria and Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Championship, respectively. These matches will take place at NXT: New Year’s Evil 2024.

That first episode of NXT in 2024 will be a special edition, as it will be the fourth annual New Year’s Evil. January 2nd is still three weeks away, and in that time, both Davenport and Williams could look to build their momentum. For Davenport, she has to deal with the return of Nikita Lyons, who she injured and put out of action for several weeks.

Williams will surely still be riding the high of his performance all the way from the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Regardless of what their plans are, the December 12 NXT could set the pace as they work their way towards their title shot in the new year.
