Preview: NJPW World Tag League 2023

New Japan Pro Wrestling has officially announced the info regarding the upcoming World Tag League tour starting November 20th, with the winning team earning the right to challenge for the IWGP heavyweight tag team championships at Wrestle Kingdom 18 next year. This year’s tournament will be split into two blocks with 16 teams drawing entry, the semifinals on December 8th, and the finals going down on December 10th to close the tour.

Quite a few debuts this year and the strong representation of allies from the various promotions that partner with New Japan Pro Wrestling. A Block will be represented by New Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, and Ring of Honor/All Elite Wrestling, made up of eight different teams.

Here are the teams that will compete in A Block:

  • EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi
  • Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano
  • Great O-Khan & HENARE
  • Shota Umino & Ren Narita
  • Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste
  • Alex Coughlin & Gabe Kidd
  • Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa
  • Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun

B Block will be represented by New Japan Pro Wrestling, NJPW STRONG, CMLL, and NJPW TAMASHII, aka Bullet Club Australia, also made up of eight teams.

  • Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI (Repeating Winners, also members of CHAOS )
  • El Phantasmo & Hikuleo (NJPW STRONG Tag Team Champions )
  • Bad Luck Fale & Jack Bonza
  • Minoru Suzuki & Yuji Nagata
  • Taichi & Yuya Uemura (JUST 5 Guys)
  • Lance Archer & Alex Zayne (NJPW STRONG)
  • Yota Tsuji & ?
  • Soberano Jr & Atlantis Jr. (CMLL talent)
