Biggest Surprises From AEW All In London

AEW All In London was the biggest wrestling show in history and there were so many memorable moments. It is shows like this that make you sit back and realize why you stuck up for wrestling when kids made fun of it in school. Top to bottom, this card made it clear why we all come together for this amazing pastime. Let’s break down some of the biggest surprises to come out of this landmark event.

Penta Returns From Injury During Match

During the Stadium Stampede match, Penta El Zero Miedo had a very cringe-worthy bump on a steel chair and instantly on the mic, you heard “We need some help over here” and the doctors came and had to help Penta out of the arena.

There was a genuine look of concern from the other participants in the match, including the opposing team. The look of the bump and everyone’s reaction left viewers feeling very uneasy. The match continued and suddenly Penta Oscuro’s music hit and out comes Penta in a new all-red outfit.

He proceeds to continue the beatings, climbs a ladder, and puts Santana through two tables from the top with a sunset powerbomb. Nobody saw that coming and it was a great addition to this chaotic match.

Orange Cassidy Pins Claudio to Beat Blackpool Combat Club

Stadium Stampede is the kind of chaotic disasterpiece that really is in the wheelhouse of the BCC. They thrive on violence in all of its forms. While the match was very entertaining, it is doubtful that most had the BCC losing this one at all, much less in the fashion that they did.

After all the dust settled, it was Orange Cassidy who had taped his fist with shards of glass and Orange punched Claudio Castagnoli to gain the pin.

Saraya Wins AEW Women’s Championship

Saraya has had a tumultuous past both inside and outside of the squared circle. She had issues with substances and got herself clean. She had her personal life strewn about the internet and got past that as well. In the ring, she was forced into early retirement due to injury.

After being told she would never wrestle again, she spent much time on the shelf before searching for medical opinions outside of WWE. Surely after all these years and things beating her down, she never in a million years would have believed that in 2023, she would walk into the biggest show in wrestling history in London, England in front of a home crowd with her family behind her.

On top of that, she walked out of that same show with the AEW Women’s Championship. Not bad for someone who was never supposed to wrestle again.

Mercedes Moné Was in the Building

Saraya should soak in every moment of winning the title while she can. This did not go unnoticed by a certain woman that the wrestling world can’t get enough of. Mercedes Moné was in the building, and while she was not cleared to wrestle yet due to injury, it was made very clear that she was there for a reason.

Bray Wyatt Named on Air Instead of Windham Rotunda

The House of Black paid tribute to their fallen comrade Windham Rotunda during their entrance when they came out with a lantern. When all the lights were off, the AEW All In London crowd did their part as well by making sure the fireflies were out in full force.

While all of this was happening, the announce team spoke of how the wrestling world lost the great Bray Wyatt. This may not seem like a huge surprise, but all three of these things combined to make a terrific tribute and it was interesting to hear the name Bray Wyatt on AEW television.

FTR Retains AEW Tag Team Championships

It would have made a lot of sense to see The Young Bucks win the AEW Tag Team Championships at AEW All In London. For one, they probably had something to do with the booking since they are so high in the company, and why not put yourself over on the largest stage ever?

Secondly, with all the controversy surrounding Cash Wheeler at the moment, it would not be out of the question for them to lose the titles while he gets everything figured out outside of the ring. Because of those two reasons, the ending of this match came as a pretty sizable surprise.

CM Punk Has Yet Another Fight

Alright, so this one isn’t really that much of a surprise. It doesn’t seem like CM Punk can be in the same building as anyone on the roster these days and AEW All In London was no different. As reported by Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful, there was a physical altercation between Punk and Jack Perry.

Punk reportedly did not take kindly to Perry’s “real glass, cry me a river” comment. Multiple reports of what was said and what kind of physicality was involved have been stated, however, one thing is for certain, we likely won’t be seeing Jack Perry on Saturday nights again anytime soon.

Bryan Alvarez reports that both men have been suspended while the fight is investigated, so if you were planning to see Punk in Chicago this weekend at All Out, in the words of Wade Barrett “I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news.”

MJF and Adam Cole are Still Friends

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the entire show is the fact that MJF and Adam Cole’s friendship did not implode right before our eyes. A betting man would have told you with 100% certainty that their friendship would not make it through the two matches they had. That same betting man would have lost the farm.

Not only did they win the ROH Tag Team Championships, they made it through an intense back-and-forth singles match for the BBB. At the end of it all, friendship overcame the urge for gold and MJF is still your champion.

Everyone on the AEW roster should be proud of what they accomplished at AEW All In London in Wembley. A record-breaking crowd, a fantastic show top to bottom, and surprises that kept fans on the edge of their seats made this an event that is must see. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and order the replay and enjoy!
