Preview: AEW Dynamite (6/21/23) – Forbidden Door Go-Home Show

A match graphic for AEW Dynamite's Forbidden Door Go-Home show.

Before All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling bust the “Forbidden Door” wide open this Sunday night, there’s still work to be done as AEW Dynamite emanates from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois. It’s been a crazy few weeks for the #AllElite promotion. With the debut of AEW Collision and the impending AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door event, it’s been hectic but in a very good way.

That said, it seems like AEW will continue to be relentless in providing its loyal fans with the best professional wrestling anyone has ever seen, and that’s evident by this week’s Forbidden Door Go-Home edition of Dynamite.

On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, we witness shall two of the best brother tag teams in the industry battle it out. Plus, a tag team matchup of epic proportions and a lot more coming your way! It’s almost Wednesday night, and you know what that means! It’s time to preview AEW Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

Full AEW Dynamite Match Card:

    • The Hardys vs, The Gunns
    • Orange Cassidy & Katsuyori Shibata vs. Daniel Garcia & Zack Sabre Jr.
    • TBS Championship Match: Kris Statlander (c) vs. Taya Valkyrie
    • Concession Stand Brawl: Jeff Jarrett vs. Mark Briscoe
    • Trios Match: Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara & Minoru Suzuki vs. Action Andretti, Darius Martin & AR Fox
    • Blind Eliminator Tournament For An AEW World Tag Team Title Shot

A Battle of Brothers

The Gunns are looking to make waves, even assisting Jay White of Bullet Club Gold in his match against Ricky Starks. While their association with the organization remains vague, one thing is certain; Austin and Colten Gunn are looking to make an impactful statement.

As we learned last week, the Gunn siblings look to do this by beating one of the best tag teams ever, The Hardys. With AEW officials quickly making the match official, it looks like Matt and Jeff Hardy have no problem teaching these youngsters a little lesson in respect and keeping their title of the undisputed best brother tag team in all of wrestling.

That said, no one should count The Gunns out just yet, considering they are former AEW Tag Team Champions in their own right. It’s The Gunns versus The Hardys; tag team warfare! Which team comes out victorious?

Let Chaos Ensue

What was supposedly a harmless rudimentary backstage interview with AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy, somehow ended up evolving into quite the tag team match. As mentioned, Cassidy was asked by Renee Paquette regarding his plans as champions. Before he could even make a reply, NJPW World Television Champion Zack Sabre Jr. would interject himself. Sabre Jr. stated that he wants to be a double champion so he’s challenging Orange for the title.

Once again, before the champion ever had the chance to get a word in, Daniel Garcia would enter the fold. He wants a shot at the title as well. Unfazed by any of these, Orange Cassidy just simply stated why don’t Zack and Daniel show up next week. He’ll bring a friend along to face them in tag action on this week’s Dynamite.

In typical Orange Cassidy fashion, that “friend” is none other than the current Ring of Honor Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata. One of the most dangerous competitors in all of wrestling will make his AEW Dynamite debut this Wednesday night in a match that’s guaranteed to be a “Match of the Night” contender.

When the dust settles, who will come out on top? Who is the rightful challenger for Orange Cassidy’s AEW International Championship? All of this and more on this week’s Dynamite, only on TBS!
