A Three-Way Match?

Mickie James was forced to withdraw from multiple shows after suffering a rib injury. This left her status for Rebellion 2023 in question. Her injury forced her to drop from the Sacrifice event scheduled for the week before the Multiverse United event. She was scheduled to defend her title against Jordynne Grace at Sacrifice. If she was successful against Grace, she was set to defend the title against Gisele Shaw, Deonna Purrazzo, and Miyu Yamashita at Multiverse United. When the news of the injury broke a few changes were made.

James was pulled from both events and replaced by Masha Slamovich at Multiverse United. Since Grace never got her one on one shot she was added to this match at Rebellion. The match at Multiverse United was made a number-one contender match with the winner being added to the match at Rebellion.

This is where James became a wildcard. If she is medically cleared to compete at Rebellion, she will defend the title in a triple threat against Grace and Purrazzo who won the match at Multiverse United. If she is not cleared, she will vacate the belt with Grace and Purrazzo competing one on one for the title.

The situation is complicated but makes things even harder for Grace and Purrazzo. They won’t know until days before the event if they are competing in singles action or a triple threat. They have to make multiple game plans whereas James just has to make one. Will that be enough for James to retain if she competes? Will this affect Purrazzo or Grace more? Find out at Rebellion.

A New IMPACT World Champion Will Be Crowned

Josh Alexander’s record-setting IMPACT Championship reign did not end in the way he would have hoped. As a fighting champion, he would have loved nothing more than to defend the title at Rebellion 2023. Unfourtently a tricep tear would force Alexander to have surgery and relinquish the championship.

Steve Maclin won a four-way match at No Surrender over Brian Myers, Heath, and PCO to become the number one contender. It was announced shortly after that his title shot would come at Rebellion. Alexander was scheduled to defend the championship against KUSHIDA at Multiverse United. The injury forced him from that match.

Now Maclina and KUSHIDA will square off at Rebellion 2023 as a new IMPACT World Champion is guaranteed to be crowned.

Maclin brings the strength advantage and is very agile for his size. KUSHIDA on the other hand brings his speed, athleticism, and veteran experience to this match. Both men have a solid technical wrestling game while the high-flying ability is stronger with KUSHIDA. Two men will enter, and only one will leave as IMPACT World Champion at Rebellion 2023.
