Josh Alexander Relinquishes World Title, Mickie James Pulled From Sacrifice

Josh Alexander

Josh Alexander will relinquish the IMPACT World Champion, IMPACT has announced via Busted Open Radio. The longest-reigning IMPACT World Champion in history has a torn triceps and will be unable to compete. It was also announced Thursday night that IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Mickie James has been pulled from the Sacrifice event scheduled for later today, Friday, March 24, as well.

Josh Alexander Out, Mickie James Pulled from Sacrifice

Alexander was scheduled to compete in the main event. He was to team with Frankie Kazarian and Rich Swann against Time Machine (Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, and KUSHIDA). It is also worth noting that Alexander was scheduled to compete at the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and IMPACT co-branded event Multiverse United. He was scheduled to defend his IMPACT World Championship against KUSHIDA. The main event for Rebellion had also been set as the long-awaited match between Alexander and Steve Maclin was also scheduled.

As for James, she was scheduled to defend the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship against Jordynne Grace in a Hard to Kill rematch. She is also scheduled to defend the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship against Deonna Purrazzo, Gisele Shaw, and Miyu Yamashita at Multiverse United. This could also be in jeopardy as James is injured but she has said she will update her status and the status of the title at Sacrifice.

This is an unexpected shake-up for IMPACT who is building towards Multiverse United as well as Rebellion in April.

IMPACT has already announced that the new IMPACT World Champion will be crowned at Rebellion as it will be Steve Maclin vs. KUSHIDA.

We here at Last Word on Pro Wrestling wish Josh Alexander and Mickie James a full healthy recovery. Stay tuned to Last Word on Pro Wrestling for more updates as they become available.
