The holidays will come early for professional wrestling fans as All Elite Wrestling presents a special edition of AEW Dynamite titled Winter Is Coming. The annual December spectacular has played host to AEW’s most memorable moments, from “The Icon” Sting’s debut to Kenny Omega’s shocking AEW World Championship win over Jon Moxley. This year, it looks like it will be no different with an amazing card in store for the #AllElite fans.

On this week’s Winter Is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite, “The Salt of the Earth” defends his newly won AEW World Championship for the first time against an absolutely tremendous challenger; match four of the Best of Seven Series for the AEW World Trios Championship commences and the House of Black makes their in-ring return.

Winter has come, and it’s filled with action! Let’s not keep anyone waiting any longer, it’s Wednesday night after all, and you know what that means! It’s time for some AEW Dynamite. Let’s run it down.

A Cold and Dark Night

The November 23, 2022 edition of AEW Dynamite marked the return of one of the most destructive forces in all of AEW the House of Black. Patriarch Malakai Black, along with his disciples Brody KingBuddy Matthews, and Julia Hart put the whole company on notice when they attacked Orange Cassidy and the Best Friends, signaling the impending devastation they are about to unleash on the company.

Malakai, on last week’s Dynamite, had made it explicitly clear that he feels as though AEW needs to be cleansed, even if it necessitates burying the whole company to do it. The House of Black returns to in-ring competition on this Wednesday’s Winter Is Coming, and it will be interesting to see who is foolish enough to combat this barbaric faction.

Winter War

It’s finally time to either put up or shut up as MJF defends the AEW World Championship for the first time, along with his Dynamite Diamond Ring, against the number one contender “Absolute” Ricky Starks. The “Absolute One” is heading into this contest on a roll. After winning the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament to secure his shot for the world title, Starks followed it up with a Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale victory on last week’s Dynamite, securing an opportunity to take both of MJF’s prized possessions all in one fell swoop.

Despite all the things he has endured and the myriad of injuries he’s currently nursing, Starks is riding a wave of momentum entering this monumental bout. Ahead of their matchup, these two met at the center of the ring in a scathing war of words last week. MJF tried to play mind games with Starks, undercutting everything Ricky has accomplished thus far in his burgeoning career.

Unfortunately for the AEW World Champion, Ricky Starks came to play and had a few choice words for MJF that left the loudmouth speechless. In vintage MJF fashion, he would take the lowest of roads – hitting Ricky “down south”. Starks immediately turned the tables, literally spearing MJF out of his expensive loafers. When the dust settled, Starks hoisted the title that he hopes to capture on this Wednesday’s Winter Is Coming.

Will the image of Ricky Starks holding the AEW World Title finally become a reality? Or will MJF have enough tricks up his sleeve to slither away with the Dynamite Diamond ring and the gold? Tune-in to AEW and Winter Is Coming this Wednesday night, only on TBS!
