The Daddies Duke It Out
In what a number of independent wrestling fans have considered the battle of the “daddies,” it will be “The Weapon of Sass Destruction” EFFY taking on “The Raddy Daddy” himself, Cole Radrick at GCW One Afternoon Only. At last month’s GCW Aura event, Radrick teamed with Sawyer Wreck and Dark Sheik in a winning effort against Second Gear Crew members EFFY, Mance Warner, and Matthew Justice. Following the victory, Radrick focused his sights on Nick Gage, who he’ll be facing for the GCW World Championship on December 3 at Wasted Time. While Radrick said that he respected Gage, he also said that the GCW world title would be his. Gage proclaimed himself a fighting champion in front of a supportive crowd in Providence, Rhode Island.
Win or lose for Radrick, the action will continue for “The Raddy Daddy.” This Sunday, Radrick is in action against one of the men he bested at GCW Aura in EFFY. While these two men have met in action before, it was only in multi-person bouts, meaning that they never had the opportunity to square off in solo action. While Radrick has been known to take his offense to the extreme, EFFY is a proven wrestler in terms of versatility, able to take any match to a higher level if need be. Expect this match to be anything but straightforward come Sunday at GCW One Afternoon Only.
A First-Time Singles Encounter
Though these two have met in action before in 2022, it’s at GCW One Afternoon Only that Billie Starkz and Tony Deppen square off one on one for the very first time. With Starkz being a rising star and Deppen considered to be one of the very best on the independent scene today, this match has the makings of a show-stealer. However, it’s important to understand that this match means so much for both competitors. Starkz has been more than occupied throughout the year, competing for not only GCW but organizations such as Black Label Pro and, more recently, Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling. In fact, it was in TJPW where she challenged Princess of Princess Champion Yuka Sakazaki last month. Additionally, “Space Jesus” recently bested Calvin Tankman for the BLP Heavyweight Championship, becoming only the second women’s wrestler to claim the gold, the first being Jordynne Grace.
Meanwhile, Deppen has his sights set on GCW gold. At GCW Aura, he won a four-way bout. However, it was what transpired after the bout that proved to be most notable. He took the microphone, rattling off his accomplishments in the promotion. Deppen proceeded to target Nick Gage, challenging him for the GCW World Championship. Serving as the proverbial cherry atop the sundae, Deppen claimed he would take the title before sending Gage back to rehab. Soon thereafter, GCW made the match official for Amerikaz Most Wanted in December. Given the names that Deppen has bested in GCW, including Biff Busick, ACH, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, and YAMATO, it would make sense that the former ROH World Television Champion would be confident heading into GCW One Afternoon Only. However, Starkz may prove to be a more sizable challenge than he anticipated.
GCW One Afternoon Only will take place in Jeffersonville, Illinois on December 4, 2022.
