AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam (9/21/22) – Full Card, Preview, How to Watch

AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 9-22-22

The state of New York will undoubtedly become unglued as All Elite Wrestling returns to Arthur Ashe Stadium for the second installment of the spectacle known as AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. On this night, five of the most prestigious prizes in professional wrestling will be up for grabs. The main event features a pay-per-view caliber matchup as two of the Blackpool Combat Club’s founders duke it out to see who claims the vacant AEW World Championship.

On a red-hot Wednesday night in September, AEW’s best will certainly lay it all out on the line for their #AllElite fans. So, strap yourselves in, it’s Wednesday night after all, and you know what that means! It’s AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam! Let’s run it down.

AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam Card

  • AEW Interim Women’s World Championship Match: Toni Storm (c) vs. Serena Deeb vs. Athena vs. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D
  • AEW All-Atlantic Championship Match: PAC (c) vs. Orange Cassidy
  • ROH World Championship Match: Claudio Castagnoli (c) vs. Chris Jericho
  • AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: Swerve In Our Glory (c) vs. The Acclaimed
  • AEW World Championship Match: Jon Moxley vs. Bryan Danielson

A Grand Finale

The Grand Slam Tournament of Champions featured six of AEW’s absolute best in a series of matches to determine who comes away with the vacant AEW World Championship. After a grueling gauntlet of spectacular bouts, two men have secured their spot in the finals of the tourney: Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson. These two were once bitter rivals that forged their now unbreakable bond through combat, and together built the Blackpool Combat Club.

However, for this Wednesday night, Mox and Danielson find themselves not fighting beside one another, but against each other. They have tremendous respect for each other, considering they’ve gone through hell and back together in barbaric battles and wars. Unfortunately, there can be only one to hoist up the most coveted price in all of AEW.

After defeating Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara in their respective semifinal matches, both Moxley and Danielson have only one thing on their mind, and that’s to reach the pinnacle of AEW. It’s Moxley versus Danielson for the vacant AEW World Championship! Who will come out of this finale as AEW’s undisputed king?

Claiming It

No tag team contender is hotter than The Acclaimed right now. After a raucous reception from the Chicago crowd back at All Out, in which Max Caster and Anthony Bowens were mere moments away from walking away as AEW World Tag Team Champions, they now find themselves with one last opportunity to make it a reality. However, the team of Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland, collectively known as Swerve In Our Glory, will not surrender their stranglehold atop the tag team division that easily.

Lee and Swerve are adamant that they’re the rightful holders of the AEW tag team titles, and The Acclaimed will have to bring everything they can muster to dethrone the conquerors of the division. This Wednesday night, on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, it will be Swerve in Our Glory against The Acclaimed, part two, for the AEW World Championship. Don’t you dare this tag team spectacle, and a lot more, this Wednesday night, only on the “mother base” TBS!

AEW Gets Modern Masculinity

When it comes to AEW and their presentation of men and male relationships in storylines and characters, I don’t think the company gets enough credit. Sports generally
