Preview: AEW Dark (8/23/22) – Westin Blake Debuts

AEW Dark Featuring Westin Blake

AEW Dark looks to be jam-packed with an insane 14-match line-up set for this evening. The tag team, formerly known as Bear Country, returns under the name of Iron Savages as they take on Sean Maluta and Manny Lo. Also, in tag team action, two winless teams collide as The WorkHorsemen goes to battle with Dean Alexander and Rosario Grillo. Our focus will be on singles action as Daniel Garcia takes on the debuting Westin Blake on AEW Dark.

Westin Blake vs. Daniel Garcia

Daniel Garcia looks to rebound from his loss to “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson, where the two went to war in a super competitive two out of three falls match. The good news is he only has to beat his opponent once tonight to pick up the win. The bad news is he’ll be facing former NXT Tag Team Champion Westin Blake on AEW Dark.

There’s no doubt Garcia is the favorite coming into this match-up, but Blake has a better chance than most will expect. Even though casual fans have not seen him in a while, Blake has been an active competitor in promotions such as REVOLVER, River City Wrestling, and for better or worse, Control Your Narrative.

Though he has not had the success of former tag team partners Buddy Matthews and Steve Maclin since leaving WWE, it would be foolish to overlook the talent of Blake heading into this match-up. Also, Garcia is not just dealing with the physical toll of his brutal match-up with Danielson. He’s also most likely mentally distracted, given what transpired with Chris Jericho after the match.

Even still, I see Garcia picking up the win, but Blake will not make it easy. It’s sure to be an exciting night so tune in!
