Preview: NWA PowerrrSurge (3/15/22) – Final Stop Before Crockett Cup

NWA PowerrrSurge Crockett Cup Go Home

This week’s NWA PowerrrSurge is the National Wrestling Alliance’s final stop before this weekend’s Crockett Cup event. Spanning two days, the event in question will feature not only the tournament in question but multiple major title matches to boot. There’s plenty of buzz surrounding the Crockett Cup shows, but before we get to this point, there’s still plenty of action to dig into. This action will unfold tonight, at 6:05 PM EST, on FITE. Take a deeper dive into what to expect.

NWA PowerrrSurge (3/15/22) – Full Card

  • Allysin Kay vs. Missa Kate
  • Sal Rinauro vs. J. Spade
  • Judais vs. Jamie Stanley
  • William Patrick Corgan and Pat Kenney Run Down Crockett Cup Brackets
  • Matt Cardona and Nick Aldis Meet on PowerrrSurge Crockett Cup Go-Home Show

Allysin Kay Squares Off With Missa Kate

While on subject of the Crockett Cup event, one of the competitors to expect is Allysin Kay. Kay and Marti Belle, collectively known as The Hex, will defend the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship against Kenzie Paige and Ella Envy on Day 2 of the action. Since capturing the revived tag team titles at this past summer’s EmPowerrr event, The Hex have been on nothing short of a tear. From the NWA to Ring of Honor to, most recently, Pro-Wrestling: EVE, The Hex have represented their home promotion well. On this week’s PowerrrSurge, with only days remaining before this year’s Crockett Cup, Kay takes on Missa Kate in singles competition. The self-proclaimed “Chicago Sweetheart” appeared on NWA programming in the past, most recently in a losing tag team effort alongside current NWA World Women’s Champion Kamille. Can Kate rebound this week at the expense of one-half of the World Women’s Tag Team Champions?

Matt Cardona and Nick Aldis Meet Before Crockett Cup Showdown

Outside of the traditional Crockett Cup tournament, one of the major matches to expect this weekend involves the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. On Day 2, Matt Cardona puts “The Ten Pounds of Gold” on the line against Nick Aldis, the latter of whom many consider being the star most synonymous with the modern NWA. At the recent PowerrrTrip supercard, Cardona bested Trevor Murdoch for the title in question, ending Murdoch’s reign at 167 days. Shortly after his title victory, Cardona was approached by Aldis, “The National Treasure” enacting the rematch clause he was owed following his own title loss to Murdoch. Before Cardona and Aldis battle at the Crockett Cup event, they will meet on this week’s PowerrrSurge. Expect few pleasantries to be exchanged and, knowing Cardona, potential involvement from his “family” in Chelsea Green, Mike Knox, and VSK.
