#AndNEW: CDK Win Asia Dream Tag Team Championship on ChocoPro #204

CDK Asia Dream Tag Team Champions

ChocoPro #204 was a one-match show that saw Best Bros, Mei Suruga and Baliyan Akki, defend the Asia Dream Tag Team Championship against CDK, the duo of Masahiro Takanashi and Chris Brookes. This was a competitive match that saw both teams go the distance. They were evenly matched throughout, and given that their previous title match ended in a draw, it was critical that this match saw a clear winner. By the end of this endurance – and following a double pinfall on Suruga – it was Takanashi and Brookes that came away the new Asia Dream Tag Team Champions.

Post-match, CDK addressed Best Bros on the mat of Ichigaya Chocolate Square. Brookes said that while the Asia Dream Tag Team Championship may not be the biggest or shiniest belt he’s ever held, it meant so much to him because of what Suruga and Akki were able to do with it. He praised them for the matches that they’ve had as champions, showing respect to them. CDK stepped away from the mat to allow Best Bros time to themselves, as they were emotional over their title loss.

CDK Capture the Asia Dream Tag Team Titles

What to Know Following Tag Team Championship Change

With this, Best Bros end their Asia Dream Tag Team Championship reign at 422 days. They won the purple belts on ChocoPro #76 on New Year’s Day in December 2020, besting Kaori Yoneyama and Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling Founder Emi Sakura to do so. Since then, Suruga and Akki defended the titles against various teams, including Egg Tarts, Melt Brain Dancing, and TropiKawaild. Best Bros retained the titles 10 times, though one of these was the result of a time limit draw to CDK.

Meanwhile, by capturing the Asia Dream Tag Team Championship, CDK have captured tag team gold for the first time together. This isn’t to discredit their work as individual stars, especially in their home promotion of DDT Pro-Wrestling. Having been wrestling for over a decade and a half, Takanashi’s accolades include 2 KO-D Tag Team Championship and 2 Extreme Championship reigns within DDT. He’s also one-half of the longest-reigning Asia Dream Tag Team Champions alongside Sakura, having held the purple titles for 511 days. Meanwhile, Brookes holds the distinction of being the first-ever DDT Universal Champion, not to mention former Extreme Champion.
