Preview: WWE SmackDown (2/11/22) – Naomi Challenges Charlotte Flair

SmackDown Charlotte Naomi

Another Friday has arrived, which means another SmackDown is here. The Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana will serve as the host venue for a SmackDown being built around two women’s matches. The SmackDown Women’s Championship will be on the line and there will be a repeat of a match which has been done three times already in just the past month. Storytelling, ladies and gentlemen. Without further ado, let’s jump in.

Natalya vs. Aliyah in a “Dungeon Style Showdown”

They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, whilst expecting different results. The first promoted match of the night is Natalya vs. Aliyah… again… for the fourth time… in less than a month. Oh, wait! This one is a “Dungeon Style Showdown” match? Surely that is a pretty cool, revolutionary match type, right? When we checked the WWE‘s description of this match, we were shocked to learn that ‘a “Dungeon Style” contest (is) where the only way to win is to pin your opponent or make them submit.’ Huh. So you have to win by pinning or submitting your opponent? Shocking concept. Other match types should borrow from this ground-breaking endgame. Anyway, this feud continues. Aliyah is 3-0 against her Harty, Canadian adversary and scored a Guinness World Record for shortest win time in the process. Let’s expect another Aliyah victory again here.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Charlotte Flair vs. Naomi

Another rematch which does not make sense is this match between Charlotte Flair and Naomi. Charlotte overcame Naomi in a recent match with the stipulation that, should Naomi win, she is granted an opportunity for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Naomi lost that match, then was (admittedly unfairly) eliminated in the Royal Rumble, but she still gets a title shot. This is called creative bankruptcy. Additionally, we all know Charlotte will win because her SmackDown Women’s Championship will be on the line at WrestleMania against Royal Rumble winner Ronda Rousey, who challenged Charlotte last week. Naomi will lose again here, but it will continue the intriguing storyline with Sonya Deville, who is doing the best work of her career so far right now.

Not Announced But Expected For SmackDown

Roman Reigns was challenged by Goldberg last week and, with a Saudi Arabian event looming, this match will likely be taking place in Riyadh. Expect a continuation of this story tonight.
