Mere hours before WWE Day 1 was set to take place the card has received a massive shake-up.  Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar were due to square off for Reigns’ Universal Championship but the tribal chief will not be competing on the event after testing positive for COVID-19.  Roman Reigns announced the news in a Tweet stating:

I yearn to perform tonight at #WWEDay1 to defend my Universal Championship. However, unfortunately, earlier today I tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the proper protocols I am unable to compete as originally scheduled. I look forward to returning to action as soon as possible.”

Roman Reigns Off WWE Day 1, Brock Lesnar Moved to WWE Championship Match

WWE was quick to take action, announcing that Brock Lesnar would now be added to the match for Big E’s WWE Championship.  Big E will now have to defend against four different opponents in Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens.

This unfortunate news brings a halt to the current storyline surrounding the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.  The two were set to square off amid speculation that Paul Heyman, recently fired by Reigns, could rejoin forces with Brock Lesnar. While betting odds had Reigns pegged to retain. the match promised to be an interesting one nonetheless with all of the tension surrounding Reigns and Heyman.
