Dragon Gate Pro Wrestling fresh off The Gate of Destiny 2021, hit the reset button once again. As The Gate of Evolution series kicks off in Korakuen Hall. Headlined by the final encounter between Dragon Dia and Dia Inferno, as well as the Pro Wrestling NOAH GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships on the line in the main event. Dragon Dia vs Dia Inferno
Dia Inferno and Dragon Dia have been intertwined since the first appearance of Inferno last year. ‘The Secret Weapon of R.E.D. made his intentions known immediately, as he was not just a new member of R.E.D. His purpose was to take out and destroy Dragon Dia. The two men first met in a singles match at Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival 2020. In that match Inferno got himself disqualified after removing the mask of Dragon Dia. Then soon after Dia suffered an injury and Inferno was left in limbo.
However, once Dia returned the bad blood was brewing between them yet again. As they met in an Open The Triangle Gate Championship match this year, with Dia and Masquerade emerging victorious. However, Inferno has been relentless in his assault even after that. After the R.E.D. vs Masquerade all out war, Dragon Dia called out Dia Inferno. Saying he knew who was under the mask but was stopped from revealing the name. Before starting their clash to kick off the Gate of Evolution series would be their last.
GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: Eita and NOSAWA Rongai(c) vs Kota Minoura and Jason Lee
Perros Del Mal De Japon’s Eita and NOSAWA Rongai captured the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships from Atsushi Kotoge and Hajime Ohara last month. After the match, NOSAWA proclaimed that the NOAH juniors didn’t interest him. That he wanted Eita to find them some challengers in Dragon Gate. Jason Lee and Kota Minoura both hold singles victories over Eita recently, so they lobbied to GM Ryo Saito to let the challenge for the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. Saito worked with NOAH officials to make the match happen to kick off the Gate of Evolution series.
One thing to consider is Eita is the leader of R.E.D., and on Twitter, NOSAWA has teased the entirety of Perros Del Mal De Japon showing up. Could that along with the simmering issues in R.E.D. come to a head and sidetrack Eita? Possibly costing him and Rongai the championships, or will it add to the numbers game? Jason and Kota are former Open The Twin Gate Champions, so they are not to be taken lightly especially with the roll Minoura has been on recently. Can the champions prove why they control the gold, or will their reign end in the first defense?
