KZY Wins King Of Gate 2021

King Of Gate winner KZY challenges Shun Skywalker

King of Gate 2021 has wrapped up, and the semi-finals and finals took place at Korakuen Hall. Natural Vibes leader KZY emerged victorious after defeating Kota Minoura in a thrilling final. KZY handed Minoura his only loss of the tournament in the process. KZY had a 2-3 record finishing with 4 points in the block, but ultimately won the second chance battle royal to get him to the semifinals.

Before this year’s King of Gate KZY had been in a very unique situation. Always being the guy in Dragon Gate who was so close, but yet so far. As a matter of fact, it took him 10 years before he made his first KOG appearance. The departure of Akira Tozawa lit a fire under him, and that’s what set him out on his journey to be a leader aiming for the top of Dragon Gate, however, last year he didn’t have much success. Once Natural Vibes reunited in December, and he got back into that leadership role that’s when things turned around for him.

KZY off the heels of the second chance battle royal proceeded to avenge his B Block deciding match with SBKENTo. Before beating Minoura in the finals. Afterward, he stated he finally had the confidence to challenge for the Open The Dream Gate Championship again. Shun Skywalker accepted the challenge, and the match was set. KZY vs Shun Skywalker for the Open The Dream Gate Championship. The match will happen in the main event of night one of Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival on July 31st. With fans begging for KZY time for years it seems his time has come.
