Ring of Honor Women’s Tournament Announced

Ring of Honor announced a women’s tournament for the summer of 2021. The event was announced during the ROH 19th Anniversary pay-per-view by newly appointed member of the ROH Board of Directors, Maria Kanellis. The winner of the Ring of Honor Women’s Tournament will be crowned the inaugural Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion.

Ring of Honor has not had a Women’s Champion since the Women of Honor Championship was retired at the end of 2019. Kelly Klein was the last wrestler to hold the title before her departure from Ring of Honor. The title was retired afterward, but now, it will be replaced by the ROH Women’s World Championship.

No participants have been announced for the ROH Women’s Championship Tournament yet but one match has been announced for a future episode of Ring of Honor television. Just as Kanellis announced the tournament for this summer, The Allüre hit the ring. Angelina Love and Mandy Leon confronted Kanellis and Quinn McKay, who had introduced Kanellis. After questioning why Kanellis was put in a position to make matches, Kanellis challenged Love to earn her spot in the tournament. Love will face Quinn McKay on an episode of ROH television. If Love wins, she will earn a first-round bye in the tournament.

McKay has unfinished business with The Allüre as they attacked her on an episode of ROH Week by Week in November of last year. This will be McKay’s first match for ROH.

The ROH Women’s Tournament will kick off this summer at a date to be announced.
