Red Velvet Is Officially ALL ELITE

Red Velvet

Cody Rhodes announced on Twitter that Red Velvet has had her contract with AEW upgraded from its previous Tier 0 status, and that she is now All Elite.  Many fans were expecting this news to come sooner rather than later after Velvet subbed in for Brandi Rhodes in a feud against Shaq and Jade Cargill. She also began to pick up a string of wins.

Red Velvet was brought in to AEW in June 2020 to be fodder on AEW Dark and AEW Dynamite. Despite having debuted in 2016, she was still somewhat rough around the edges but her charisma was apparent to see from day one. It wasn’t until October that Velvet got her first win and was seemingly taken under the wing of Brandi Rhodes.

When Rhodes got pregnant, Velvet was an obvious choice to step into the feud between Rhodes and the team of Shaq and Jade Cargill. The match itself removed all doubts that Velvet belongs in AEW as she performed well in a match involving two debutants. Now that she is under contract with AEW, Red Velvet is locked in as a future star of their women’s division. Her in-ring skills have improved so much in her short time with AEW and they can only get better going forward.
