New Trademark Filing Suggests Daniel Garcia Could Be WWE Bound

Daniel Garcia

WWE has moved to trademark the name Dante Rios.  This is the name that indie star Daniel Garcia used in a recent appearance on NXT as an enhancement talent.  WWE’s filing of the trademark for the name suggests that Daniel Garcia is WWE bound.

Known around the indies as one of the “Buffalo Brothers” Garcia started to gain recognition for his work with SMASH Wrestling and Empire State Wrestling (ESW)in 2018, he also took part in a match on 205 Live where he was soundly beaten by Drew Gulak.  His momentum was shot early in 2019 when he and fellow Buffalo Brothers Puf, Kevin Bennett, and Kevin Blackwood were involved in a car accident that left Garcia and Blackwood on the shelf for a number of months.  Garcia picked up where he left off with ESW and began appearing regularly in Beyond Wrestling.

Garcia, like many, saw the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to his plans as he didn’t get to wrestle nearly as much in 2020 as in previous years.  He did however get the chance to wrestle for All Elite Wrestling, twice he appeared and lost on AEW Dark alongside Blackwood.  If Garcia is departing for WWE then the 22-year-old is sure to have a bright future and leaves the indies as a former ESW Heavyweight Champion and C4 Champion, two titles he holds to this day.
