Jon Moxley Announced for GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3

Jon Moxley AEW

The AEW World Champion is set to fight. Earlier this evening, it was confirmed that Jon Moxley would be participating in Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3. This is GCW‘s event where the hungriest, hardest-hitting fighters come together. Up until this point, the confirmed roster was stacked. However, with the addition of the ”Death Rider” himself, Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3 can become that much more of a must-see event.

Currently, Jon Moxley reigns supreme as the AEW World Champion. Moxley won the title from Chris Jericho this past February at AEW Revolution, ending “Le Champion’s” 182-day reign in the process. Since then, Moxley has successfully defended the title against an array of opponents. Whether it was against the daredevil Darby Allin, the underhanded MJF, or the powerhouses in Brian Cage and Brodie Lee, Moxley was able to come out on top with his brawling abilities and wily mindset.

It’s also important to note that Moxley is the owner of the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. Currently in his second reign with the title, Moxley’s last defense took place this past February. Since then, Moxley has been unable to work New Japan Pro Wrestling events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with KENTA recently winning the New Japan Cup 2020 USA, granting him a future IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship opportunity, Moxley may be returning to NJPW programming sooner than later.

Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3 marks the GCW debut of Jon Moxley. He was originally supposed to face Josh Barnett at last year’s Bloodsport, but a MRSA infection kept the hard-hitting Moxley on the shelf. He was also set to face Barnett at this year’s Bloodsport, which was supposed to take place during WrestleMania weekend. As was the case with other independent events, it was postponed following COVID-19. Following these setbacks, Moxley is set to compete in his first Bloodsport. His opponent remains to be determined.

GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3 will take place at Marion County Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 11th, 2020. Tickets for the events are on sale now. For those that are unable to attend live, Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport will air live on FITE.tv; further details can be found below. GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 3 is part of a larger project known as The Collective. The following participants have been confirmed for Bloodsport:

  • Calvin Tankman

  • “Grizzly” Kal Jak
  • Lindsay Snow
  • Erik Hammer
