Strong Island Z: Matt Cardona Arrives in AEW

After months of speculation, ever since Zack Ryder was released by the WWE during April’s Black Wednesday, people have wondered will he/won’t he regarding whether Matt Cardona – Zack Ryder’s real name – would join longtime friend Cody Rhodes in All Elite Wrestling. While many of his former workmates arrived in IMPACT Wrestling on July 18 at Slammiversary, Cardona finally revealed his intentions as he arrived in AEW on Wednesday night to save Arn Anderson from a confrontation with The Dark Order’s Jon Silver & Alex Reynolds, while Cody was recovering from his match earlier against WARHORSE.

Matt Cardona’s arrival would seem to indicate that Cardona has chosen to be in AEW going forward, although his talked about return to the indies could still happen, as AEW has let other wrestlers take indie booking since signing with AEW, such as Jimmy Havoc, Joey Janela, and Marko Stunt.
