WWE Partners with WarGaming’s World of Tanks for Special SummerSlam Event

WWE World of Tanks

Following a successful video game collaboration with KOF All Star in May/June, that introduced WWE wrestlers into the popular fighting game, WWE is back with another partnership, this time with WarGaming’s popular free-to-play hit, World of Tanks. Through this collaboration, WWE superstars will be re-imagined as tanks, complete with entrance music, special garages, and more surprises as part of the brand new SummerSlam event.

“The update 5.0 and launch of Season 1 is probably the biggest one our team in Chicago has done in a couple of years,” TJ Wagner, Executive Producer of Wargaming Chicago-Baltimore said. “Partnering with WWE has been a fantastic experience and is bringing unique new content to our players, who can expect more updates like SummerSlam in the future! With update 5.0, we’re very excited to be able to address many player requests and desires for our game like cross-play that unites PlayStation and Xbox tankers, to make match making faster and better.”

The following press release was issued on Tuesday to promote the event, which runs from July 21st to August 21st:

In partnership with WWE, Wargaming and World of Tanks Console is excited to announce Update 5.0 – Season 1 SummerSlam! Beginning today through Monday, September 21, SummerSlam brings an exclusive new season pass featuring WWE inspired tanks, legendary Superstar collectible crews, new garages and much more to World of Tanks players on PlayStation and Xbox.

As part of the new season, players will have the chance to command five legendary Superstar Collector Tanks inspired by WWE Superstars The Undertaker and Becky Lynch, as well as WWE Hall of Famers Andre the Giant, Sgt. Slaughter plus “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who will be free for all players!

Players will also be given the ability to experience their own redesigned WWE Garage – including epic Superstar introductions for their vehicles, unique visuals for each Premium Collector Tank, and two sets of crew chests that will include the aforementioned five Superstars and Legends to start in addition to Roman Reigns, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels in August.

A team-based massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored combat, World of Tanks Console allows players an immersive experience as they fight battles in fierce 15-v-15 tank combat with opponents from around the world. The game offers over 90 different maps, and over 740 tanks from 11 different nations. Played by more than 20 million players worldwide and available on PlayStation and XBox consoles, the game offers several exciting modes including the story-driven campaign, War Stories, which gives players the chance to rewrite history in immersive single-player and co-operative battles.

According to the press release, “With its latest addition, World of Tanks: SummerSlam, players can enter the latest individually themed season to get an extra flavor on the game for a limited time only with some of the greatest Superstars from the WWE added to the game, like The Undertaker, Andre the Giant, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Becky Lynch or Sgt. Slaughter.”
