The NXT Recap (11/06/19)

NXT

Electricity is in the air heading into tonight’s episode of NXT. For the first time since it’s creation, WWE’s spotlight is firmly on NXT. With NXT’s all out assault on the main roster, so many questions remain to be answered. Will the main roster return the favor? If so how many of WWE’s top stars will show up in Full Sail? Will we get AJ Styles vs Adam Cole? Let’s dive in, and find out!

THE OC INVADES NXT

Everyone knew that the main roster would have an answer for NXT’s attacks, but most probably would not have guessed it would be with the OC attacking The Undisputed Era. After dismantling NXT’s champions, the good brothers made their way to the ring to address the NXT crowd.

AJ Styles took the mic, proclaiming that The OC were taking over NXT. Tommaso Ciampa shortly made his way to the entrance ramp before addressing with this piece of gold: “People have been asking me, when are you going to move to the main roster? Gentlemen, welcome to the main roster.”

Ciampa expertly built up both himself and the NXT brand as a whole as an equal to anyone on “the main roster.” Styles was eager to accept the challenge, but pointed out that Ciampa was alone. This brought out “Limitless” Keith Lee and “The Original Bro” Matt Riddle, setting up a tremendous main event.

PETE DUNNE GETS RETRIBUTION AGAINST DAMIAN PRIEST AND ATTACKED BY THE BEAST OF BELFAST

Pete Dunne looked to avenge his loss against Damian Priest in the first match of the night. Priest looked to use his reach advantage, and Dunne his technical savvy and joint manipulation. Late in the match it looked like Priest would try to use a low blow to win again. Dunne put a stop to this, and countered with on of his own. The Bruiserweight locked in the cross armbreaker for the tapout, avenging his loss in the process.

Dunne’s celebration was short lived, as he was blindsided by Killian Dain with brutal assault. Priest pushed shoved Dain to the side, wanting to assault Dunne himself. This lead to Dain laying out “The Archer of Infamy” as well.

SHAYNA BASZLER BEATS DAKOTA KAI AND CHAOS ERUPTS

NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler set this match up by saying Dakota Kai was a worthless pick for the War Games match. Kai took exception to that, showing a much more confident approach to start the match. Dakota blasted the champion with a plethora of strikes, and looking every bit Shayna’s equal while doing it.

Shayna was able to capitalize on the over aggressive Kai, slamming her knee into the post and it was academic from there. Dakota was able to mount a comeback, but the champion locked in the Kirifuda Clutch for the win. Shayna and her fellow Horsewomen Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir assaulted Kai post match. This brought out Tegan Nox, Rhea Ripley, and Candice LeRae to help their friend. Bianca Belair and Io Shirai quickly halted their attempts, as the heels brutalized their opposition.

Mia Yim came running out with kendo stick in hand, cleaning house and sending the heels to the back. Mia checked on Kai, as officials made their way to check on Team Ripley.

MAIN EVENT ENDS IN NO CONTEST, FINN BALOR TEASES ALLIANCE WITH THE OC

The tension exploded right at the start of this main event, as the six men immediately went to war. Brawling all around the ringside area until AJ Styles and Tommaso Ciampa got in the ring. While The OC were largely dominant throughout the match, Ciampa, Riddle, and Lee were definitely the stars. All were made to look every bit the equal to the the former WWE Champion and “the best tag team in the world.”

The end broke down in chaos as a pounce from Lee knocked out the referee, and allowed chaos to ensue. It looked as if Ciampa was about to hit Styles with The Fairytale Ending, until Finn Balor’s music hit. Balor made his way to ringside, distracting Ciampa enough for Styles to gain control. Styles set up for the Styles Clash, but Adam Cole put a stop to that with a super kick. Cole quickly blasted Ciampa with The Last Shot, and stared down Balor to end the show.
