Natalya vs Lacey Evans To Be First Ever Women’s Match In Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia

WWE‘s ventures to Saudi Arabia have been met with much criticism from all sides.  Despite this, WWE has remained incessant on delivering live shows in Saudi Arabia stating that one of its main goals is to help bring about change in Saudi Arabia and with this announcement we are one step closer.  As announced by Michael Cole at a press conference Natalya will take on Lacey Evans at Crown Jewel.

This match will be the first-ever women’s match in the history of Saudi Arabia and gives follows up on WWE’s claims to also having the first-ever women’s match in the history of Abu Dhabi, which has been proven false.  Although similarly Evans and Natalya may need to wear custom gear as Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss did.

Lacey Evans and Natalya have been feuding for months on Raw which seemingly culminated on the October 7th edition of Raw in a brutal last woman standing match that was won by Natalya.  Crown Jewel will see them pick up their rivalry one last time as they are now on separate brands with Evans heating up on SmackDown and Natalya being a big get for Raw.

Personal feelings aside this is a huge step in the right direction and WWE is delivering on its promise to bring about change in Saudi Arabia. As one might recall from around the time of the Greatest Royal Rumble in April 2018, Triple H promised having the women on the card was something they were working on, saying, “While, right now, women are not competing in the event, we have had discussions about that and we believe and hope that, in the next few years they will be. That is a significant cultural shift in Saudi Arabia.”

One year later, that cultural shift is happening and for the fans in attendance and the two wrestlers involved, this is a historical moment.
