More Creative Shake Ups, As Johnny Russo Exits WWE Creative

The WWE has been making all kinds of changes backstage in recent weeks, from hiring new road agents and producers like Jeff Jarrett, Chris Parks (Abyss), Sonjay Dutt, Shawn Daivari, and Shane “Hurricane” Helms, to releasing older ones like Arn Anderson. They also brought back longtime WWE employee Bruce Prichard into the fold as head of creative, and this past Sunday, Dave Schilling, a former writer for The Bleacher Report, VICE, and other media, announced he had been hired to begin with WWE Creative in March.

But it appears the creative shuffle isn’t over quite yet. Last Word on Pro Wrestling has learned that creative member Johnny Russo has departed the WWE this week. While not one of the biggest names on the WWE creative roster, Russo did have a rather significant role – he was the head writer for the WWE Women’s Division. Russo has been working with the WWE since 2011, following a career in Sports Journalism as Sports Director for WEBN-TV in Boston. While there’s been no official statement on his departure (or possible re-assignment within the company), the word is he’s already been replaced by a new female writer to lead the women’s division creatively going forward.
