Jack Roslovic Contract Signed by Toronto Maple Leafs

Roslovic has played for the Winnipeg Jets, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Edmonton Oilers across his 10-year NHL career. Last season, he recorded 21 goals and 15 assists for 36 points in 69 games. The 29-year-old averaged 15 minutes, 46 seconds of ice time, which was over 1:20 from his career average.

Roslovic, a Columbus, Ohio native, has 123 goals and 173 assists for 296 points in 595 career games. Winnipeg originally drafted him in the first round, 25th overall of the 2015 NHL Draft. He had a standout career at the University of Miami (Ohio) in the NCAA ranks.

The forward has also represented his native United States at the international level. He’s won gold at the Under-17, Under-18, and Under-20 levels. Roslovic was part of the gold-medal winning team at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championships.

What It Means

Roslovic has been steadily piling up the 20-plug goal seasons in his career. He’s eclipsed that mark three times, including the last two consecutive campaigns.

The veteran forward was a late signee with the Oilers last season offseason. However, he did more than enough to prove that he was worthy of being signed earlier and for more money. Roslovic has continually bet on himself to get that coveted payday that plenty of players in his position have received.

The Leafs may have given him a short-term deal. However, this could be an under-the-radar signing for new general manager John Chayka.

He’s also been part of some winning teams in recent memory. That and his goalscoring prowess have made the veteran forward too good to pass up.
