Swansea City has sacked now former manager Paul Clement after a year in charge. Swansea got off to a very poor start this season and have yet to recover. They are currently occupying the 20th position in the table with just 12 points from 18 matches.

This is a less than surprising development for Swansea. Almost halfway through the Premier League season they currently sit 20th in the table. With a 3-3-12 record and a -15 goal differential they have the second worst goal differential in the league. Only Stoke City is worse off (-20).
Clement was able to save Swansea from relegation last season after taking the manager position in January 2017.
The major factor in the failing attack is the fact that they sold their most potent player from season’s past, Gylfi Sigurdsson, to Everton in the summer. The Swans have felt the absence of the Icelandic attacker, only being able to muster 10 goals in the first 18 matches of this season.
Their lack of goals is, in large part, due to their lack of creating chances. Swansea only has 157 shots this season, with only 36 of them being on target. They would need an astronomical conversion rate to not be the worst attacking side in the league, which they do not have.
On top of their ailing attack, they are only better than six other teams defensively. The Swans have allowed 25 goals this season. This is much less a worry, but when you are only scoring a goal every other match, it becomes a serious issue.
The club has yet to make an announcement on their next manager, or if they will stick with an interim manager for the immediate future. When they do hire a manager that will be the Swans fourth manager in the last two seasons.
