This is a Chelsea predicted lineup for their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on a bank holiday Monday. A 3pm kick-off on Monday is an unusual sight to all footie fans but it’s sure to be an eye-catching outing. The Blues are coming into this one off the back of a Semi-Final win in the FA Cup and desperately need wins to turn their season around after losing a second manager in four months.

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Rob Sanchez has been the number one goalkeeper in the absence of Filip Jorgensen who has not been in the squad since the Paris Saint-Germain first leg due to an injury. The back line has seen Malo Gusto and Marc Cucurella lock down the full back spots with Trevoh Chalobah, Jorrel Hato, Wes Fofana, and Tosin Adarabioyo getting minutes as the centre backs.

Moises Caicedo is the main member of the defensive midfield pivot, partnering either Romeo Lavia, Enzo Fernandez, or Andrey Santos in recent appearances. Enzo has pushed further up and usually plays as the number ten. Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Alejandro Garnacho, and Estevao have started out on the wings.

Liam Delap was starting as the striker during some injury absences but when healthy, Joao Pedro is the starting number nine option.

Chelsea Recent Form & Tactics

A standard 4-2-3-1 was utilised against Leeds in the first match under interim coach Calum McFarlane. The differences to what Liam Rosenior and Enzo Maresca had the squad doing are minimal but led to the win, with the main shift being less touches from the goalkeeper and a greater utilisation of direct passes for Pedro to hold up.

After a dismal run of five league defeats without a goal and a humiliating Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain, the FA Cup has provided the only solace for the Blues, with a 7-0 Port Vale win and the weekend’s 1-0 Semi-Final win being their only victories. The squad seemingly wanted Rosenior sacked so badly they gave up on him, they’ll need to get back to winning ways now to prove they were right in their decision.

Chelsea Team News

According to PremierInjuries, there are some absentees and doubts that the interim manager has to handle. The aforementioned Jorgensen is still unknown as there’s been no update on him in some time. Mykhailo Mudryk is still suspended in what was revealed by a CAS filing to be a four year ban. Reece James and Levi Colwill are doubts but not guaranteed to be out of the squad, Jamie Gittens and Estevao will be sidelined with muscular issues.

There are unlikely to be any players struggling for match fitness as the team are out of the Champions League and have had a week break since their previous fixture. This means the healthy players are free to start without having to consider rotation.
