Team News, Form and Predicted Line-Up as Oxford United Welcome Blackburn

Oxford United will be looking to record three successive league wins for the first time since April 2024 when the U’s welcome relegation rivals, Blackburn.

The U’s achieved that in League One as Des Buckingham’s side recorded wins over Fleetwood, Burton and Peterborough on the way to securing a playoff finish but have struggled to record successive victories since. The wins over Preston last time out and West Brom prior were the first time the U’s have secured back-to-back wins since January 2025, when Gary Rowett replaced Buckingham as head coach.

As for Rovers, they sit four points above the U’s but needed a stoppage-time equaliser against Portsmouth to rescue a point. Michael O’Neill’s side had lost their previous two so putting a stop to successive defeats will be seen as a positive. Under the Northern Ireland head coach, Blackburn have scored in all five games he has taken charge of but conceding goals remains an issue.

Will Lankshear has scored in successive games to take his tally to eight league goals for the season. Yuki Ohashi also has eight for the visiting side, while Andri Gudjohnsen has seven, but has failed to find the net since returning from injury in January.

Tyler Goodrham and Brian De Keersmaecker remain sidelined but there was a return last time out for Brodie Spencer and Jamie McDonnell. Przemyslaw Placheta is also close to a return.

Sandre Tronstad and Lewis Miller are out for the season, while George Pratt, Aynsley Pears, Matty Litherland, Ryan Hedges and Augustus Kargbo remain sidelined. Todd Cantwell, who scored in the reverse fixture, could return for the visitors.

The two sides played out a 1-1 draw earlier in the season at Ewood Park while the U’s won 1-0 when they met at Grenoble Road last season. Ironically, that result was part of the most recent two-game winning run.

Matt Bloomfield has only faced Rovers once as an opposing manager when his Luton side lost 1-0 at home against the Lancashire club. Ohashi scored the goal for the visitors.
