Liverpool’s season continues to be chaotic, but the Reds are still in with a good chance of finishing in the top four. The beginning of the season was understandably difficult for Arne Slot’s team, following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota. The squad suffered, losing confidence and form. The situation has improved since then, and Liverpool appears focused on achieving a top-four finish. They recently progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup and are in the last-16 of the Champions League. The Reds also won their last Premier League game, a 1-0 victory away to Sunderland. Virgil van Dijk scored the winning goal, and recently backed Dominik Szoboszlai to inherit the captain’s armband from himself.

“That’s all on the manager I think. I don’t know. Yeah,” was Van Dijk’s response when asked whether Szoboszlai could eventually inherit the armband.
“Obviously he has been very good. Also a player who I think can still make the next step in terms of being a leader for this team.

“It starts by leading by example and that’s something he has done so far this season.
“But also everything around it; there is still progress to be made and that’s a good thing in my opinion so hopefully he will be very important for the years to come at Liverpool.”
Dominik Szoboszlai Continues to Impress
The 25-year-old Hungarian international has enjoyed an impressive campaign thus far, showcasing invaluable versatility, even filling in at right-back. He has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 35 games in all competitions.
