Oxford United Injury News

Matt Phillips – Thigh

Maybe the closest to a return is winger, Matt Phillips. The former Scotland international has been back on the grass but there hasn’t been a return date given. However, it was the same with Brodie Spencer but the defender played last time out against Preston.

Cameron Brannagan – Calf

Skipper Cameron Brannagan is still absent with a calf injury, but he is back in training. The U’s are in desperate need for the midfielder to return with Oxford short of players in that area.

Hidde ter Avest – Hamstring

Full-back Hidde ter Avest remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Again, there isn’t a return date set.

Oxford’s Returning Players

As mentioned, Brodie Spencer made his return from injury last time out, as did Przemyslaw Placheta from the bench.

Southampton Injury News

Damion Downs – Knock

USMNT striker Damion Downs has been absent since picking up an injury during a 3-0 win over Leicester at the back end of November.

Elias Jelert – Quad

Danish defender Elias Jelert picked up a quad injury in a goalless draw against Swansea back in October.

Mads Roerslev – Knee

The Saints are without another right-back in Mads Roerslev. The former Brentford man last played against Sheffield Wednesday at the start of November.

Ross Stewart – Hamstring

Former boss Will Still said that Scottish striker Ross Stewart would be out for “a substantial period” with a hamstring injury. The former Sunderland man isn’t expected back until the new year.

Samuel Edozie – Hamstring

Twenty-two-year-old winger Samuel Edozie is yet to feature this season with a hamstring injury.

Shea Charles – Hamstring

Northern Ireland international Shea Charles has been out with a hamstring injury since the back of October during a game against Blackburn.
