Leicester Predicted Lineup vs Southampton for May 3

With just one point since January of this year, Leicester City’s woes are still prevalent. The loss last time out to Wolves came with little meaning after relegation was confirmed, but it once again highlighted how poor this side is. This Saturday, May 3, The Foxes host Simon Rusk’s Saints at the King Power Stadium. Here is the Leicester predicted lineup in a clash between two of the worst Premier League sides ever.

Leicester Predicted Lineup vs Southampton for Premier League Clash

How Leicester Have Lined Up Recently

Ruud Van Nistelrooy has recently used a 4-2-3-1 system but with minimal success so far. At the Molineux, Mads Hermansen continued his run of starts in between the sticks. Conor Coady and Wout Faes formed a centre-back partnership, whilst Caleb Okoli was once again sidelined. Academy graduate Luke Thomas started on the left as he continues to keep Victor Kristiansen out of the side. Meanwhile, Ricardo Pereira returned to the squad in the inverted full-back role, but came off at half-time with another injury.

In the pivot, Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakary Soumaré started together once again, as Harry Winks remains out of the squad. Bilal El Khannouss started in the attacking midfielder role, which saw him try to be a creative outlet. Bobby Decordova Reid, and Facundo Buonanotte then started off the flanks, with both being replaced before the second half due to injuries. Leicester legend Jamie Vardy then led the line as he missed a penalty in his first game since announcing his departure from the club.

Leicester’s Recent Form And Tactics

Despite the 4-2-3-1’s success away at Brighton all those weeks ago, the Foxes have struggled yet again since that jubilant afternoon on the coast. This was shown through defeats to champions Liverpool and Wolves, coming weeks apart.

At the Molineux, the home side were in control from the off. They had the lion’s share of possession and created chances, as they had 10 shots. This all eventually led to the opener as Matheus Cunha found the net to continue his impressive run of form.

Vitor Pereira’s side continued their fantastic run of form in the second half as Jorgen Strand Larsen and Rodrigo Gomes added to the lead. Despite the visitors earning a penalty that was missed by Jamie Vardy, they offered little throughout.

Van Nistelrooy’s side’s attention now turns to their clash with Southampton as both sides prepare for the Championship.

Leicester City Injuries to Consider

As revealed by the Dutchman, there are multiple injuries to the squad. As part of the major injury crisis before the end of the season, Hermansen, Pereira, Buonanotte and Decordova Reid have all been confirmed to be out. This led Van Nistelrooy to also say that he expects many academy players to be on the bench.
