Chelsea Team News

Rob Sanchez starts in goal behind Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, and Moises Caicedo at right back. In defensive midfield, Romeo Lavia makes his return after some time on the sidelines to partner Enzo Fernandez. Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, and Noni Madueke support the striker Nicolas Jackson.

Filip Jorgensen is on the bench with Josh Acheampong, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Reece James, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tyrique George, Jadon Sancho, and Christopher Nkunku.

Notable Changes

The biggest decision is Caicedo starting at right-back here. We have seen this setup at times with the midfielder inverting from right-back to form a physical, press-resistant duo with Lavia allowing Enzo, Cucurella, and Palmer to operate around the opposition box.

The manager also seems set on the winger setup with Madueke on the right and Neto on the left being the best pairing, despite Sancho’s recent uptick in form. Neto on the left is more natural for him than playing on the right.

Chalobah and Colwill remain the clear first-choice central pairing in the absence of Wesley Fofana.
