Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Manchester City

Following Tuesday’s 1-0 reverse at Nottingham Forest, Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United will seek to get back on track in the Premier League this weekend against cross-town rivals Manchester City. Amid a desperately poor season, the return fixture was a rare chink of light as Amad Diallo’s late strike sealed all three points at Etihad Stadium. Here is the Manchester United predicted lineup for the rematch at Old Trafford (Kick off 4.30PM).

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Manchester City in Huge Derby Clash

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

André Onana has been number one all season, with Matthijs de Ligt and two of Ayden Heaven, Noussair Mazraoui, Victor Lindelof and Lény Yoro making up the centre-backs. Mazraoui has also played at wing-back of late, with Patrick Dorgu and Diogo Dalot making the options out wide.

In midfield, two of Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes have anchored, with Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho occupying the attacking midfield slots in different games. Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have each had opportunities in the number nine position.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

Two wins, two draws and Tuesday’s loss against Nottingham Forest in their previous five games suggest progression under Amorim. Indeed, the Portuguese former Sporting Lisbon coach has begun to make his mark on the Red Devils, with signs that the team is beginning to adapt to the demands of his 3-4-2-1 system.

Whilst defensively reasonably solid, the problems that remain seem to be at the other end of the pitch, with a lack of reliable goalscoring costing the team once again at the City Ground this week.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

In-form de Ligt is a doubt for the derby, with him and the returning Kobbie Mainoo facing late fitness tests to determine their availability. Heaven and Luke Shaw are expected back before the end of the season, with Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez out for the season. Jonny Evans is not yet ready to return.
