Ruben Amorim is attempting to return Manchester United to their former glories. But he does not have excesses of wealth to carry out this task. Valuable assets are at risk of being sacrificial pawns in this project, and one of them is Alejandro Garnacho, in whom Napoli have held concrete interest.
Napoli Nail Down Talks for Alejandro Garnacho
Napoli Lead the Race for Winger’s Signature
Sky Sports have stated that Napoli are now renewing talks with Garnacho about a move to Serie A.
Napoli want to agree on terms with the player’s representatives before trying to lower the fee that the Red Devils demand. Even though United would be “reluctant sellers” of the winger, the media outlet understands that the club cannot afford to turn down a sizeable offer in the name of the greater good.

Interest in the winger from Antonio Conte is understandable. The 20-year-old has a supreme fitness record, not appearing in only three of the team’s Premier League games since the start of last season.
He pairs availability with relentless running on the field. A low success rate with dribbles and shots should not detract from the fact that his belief never wavers and on occasion, bounces will go his way.
In this sense, he might be a perfect fit for the Napoli manager. Conte likes diligent players whom he can reprogram to perform patterns of play. Garnacho could become a good wing-back if Conte went back to his usual back five system or act as a deputy for the likes of Matteo Politano and David Neres.
No Concrete Chelsea Interest in Garnacho
Many United fans would have wanted a rebuild with Garnacho, but they may still see him in England.
Rumours reporting that Garnacho could be on his way to Chelsea have littered the news this month.
The Blues have embarked on a unique project of their own under Todd Boehly in the last few years. BlueCo have bankrolled over a billion in spending on players that are mainly under the age of 25 and willing to sign long-term deals. At his tender age, Garnacho would be an adequate fit for this policy.
However, Chelsea’s needs are in other positions. The squad lacks a second striker to support Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer with putting the ball in the back of the net. There are no reliable options aside from Roméo Lavia, Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo in the midfield. And Trevoh Chalobah cut short his loan at Crystal Palace to improve the defensive quality in the absence of Wesley Fofana.
Sky Sports have said the club have not yet made an official bid for the player. Chelsea could entice a transfer with a big fee, but it does not seem to be the most sensible allocation of funds at the moment.
