How Germany Have Lined-up Recently

4-2-3-1 continues to be the play for Julian Nagelsmann and Germany and it seems to be doing just the trick as they sit atop of their Nations League group with three wins and a draw from four games.

The previous match against the Netherlands saw some of the bigger names such as Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz missing out through injury, meaning the likes of striker Tim Kleindienst and winger Jamie Leweling were handed starts for their second and first national team caps respectively.

Germany Recent Form and Tactics

The Germans’ recent Nations League form has been some of the best in the competition along with the likes of Italy, Turkey and Portugal as they’ve picked up ten points from a possible 12 so far.

Their result against the Dutch saw them win 1-0 thanks to a Leweling debut goal and before that, a trip to Bosnia saw them win 2-1 courtesy of a Denis Undav double.

During these two matches, Die Mannschaft had to deal without the creative spark of Musiala, with Undav and Florian Wirtz occupying the Bayern star’s attacking midfield role across both matches, However, with the 21-year now back in the fray, it is likely that he will return to his position, despite the good work of the aforementioned stand-ins.

Germany Injuries to Consider

Regarding injuries, Nagelsmann will be without Undav who has travelled back to his club Stuttgart following a thigh strain – he will be replaced by Leroy Sane -, while talented up-and-coming midfielder Angelo Stiller has also departed the camp due to muscular problems, with no replacement lined up for the 23-year old. Aleksandar Pavlovic is also out with a collarbone fracture.
